Unhappy HELP! My Ignition Is Locked Up!

I don't know what the deal is but when I went out to my jeep a minute ago the key won't budge. I tried to let it roll a little bit, wiggle the steering wheel, I tried neutral, in gear.....Nothing! Has anybody had this issue before? what elsa could I try or what could I do? Thanks, Spencer

there is a black cable that comes up from the firewall and connects into a block close to ur ignition. make sure it hasnt come loose. mine did. i could crank it and turn it off but couldnt turn counter clockwise and take it out. when i pulled up( toward the steering wheel) on the end of the cable i heard it snap back into place and that fixed it.

Ok I figured it out if anyone else is interested. Sometimes the button that releases my key just won't let me pull my key out. So I have to rip the key out and that locks up my ignition. To unlock it all I have to do is tap the metal cylinder with the key slot in it a couple times with a hammer. That seems to loosen it up and my key will turn like a charm. How expensive would it be to replace the ignition?

They are easy to replace and you can get them here for around $50 http://www.quadratec.com/jeep-replac...dy/tj-keys.php
