Help on Bike Rack

Hey All,

Looking at getting a 2 bike rack for my 99 Sport and I need some advice. I thought about getting the Thule rack for the hard top but it's only on from october to april, all summer I just have a bikini on it. I thought about the hitch rack but I tow my dirt bikes/sleds year round + getting to the tail gate is a pain. So I'm left with the spare tire rack right? Well, I was hoping on mounting my hi-lift, axe, shovel, and gas can back there.

Any solutions/advice out there?
Do they make a rack that would mount above the rear seats behind the soundbar? b/c I would put my trail gear up there in the summer and my bike on the spare.

Thanks guys!

They make what is called a safari rack. It is pricey tho. It is on top of the truck and folds off the top. So you can put your tops on and off. Sorry typing from my phone it is harder to find the link to it.

I run a Spare tire rack from Academy. It has never failed me. it holds three bikes, and the lower anchors can attach to the bottom edge of the tailgate, so you can still use tailgate.

There is another one out there that attaches to the "lug bolts" for the spare tire, a jeep here has it. looks neat, but never seen another one like it.

a guy on here built his own rack which anchored the front fork to the rollbar.

How about a rear bumper with a 2"x2" hitch receiver? With that you can swith from a 2"x2" bike rack to a 2"x2" hitch mount in seconds.

When I use my bike rack in my 2" reece hitch receiver under the rear bumper, it hits the spar tire. I seen in JC Whitney that they have an adapter you can use that goes into the 2" opening and extends the mounting out another 12". You could then use one with your spare tire. Tire mount might work best.

I have one of these KargoMaster - Congo Cage Jeep Racks on my soft top TJ with a Yakima Loadwarrior cage on top. You can hook any Thule or Yakima rack to it. It tilts backwards if you want to lower the top. It's great and doesn't do too much to speed or noise. The worst part is when you install it you have to remove the screws in the windshield hinges which is a pain because they are those weak torxs bolts.
