Help opening turn signals to tint

My front turn signals feel like they're superglued shut.
I tried prying gently, but I heard a few pops and cracks, and it didn't budge, so I stopped.
Shouldn't these just have a simple rubber seal in them? Or did the get glued together at the factory? I would much rather tint the inside than the outside.
I also found this while searching the forum:
From another thread, "Its simple. start with 180 grip paper and sand em until the dot markings are gone. then 600 wet and it gets them all clean and smooth. Even though i paint, i just rattle can them with black spray paint and then hit them with clear. Put them on and your done."

Has anyone else done this? I wonder if they're be too dark to be useful during the daylight hours.

Also, I want to take of those plastic ends on the bumpers (I believe someone on here called them 'milk jugs'), but the screws don't seem to come all the way out? Is there a trick to this? And is there a kit to close up the ends of the bumpers after, or will I just have to leave them open?

Thanks in advance

1st- if your signals are stuck, you can twist the light part out and go from the inside to push them instead of pulling them.
2nd- the "milk jugs" have a flat thing(i dont know what the correct term is) that wont allow them to come all the way out. if you dont plan on re-applying them to your jeep you can break/cut the screw or just man-handle the "jugs" until they break loose.
3rd- former WF members told me that there are plugs that cover the end of the bumper. you can find them on the internet or just go to the dealership and pick up a pair. personally i took mine off the front and painted the inside to match the bumper.
hope i helped.

I got the small end caps at the dealer for less than $8 for the pair (fronts, not sure they have any for the rear). Cheaper than what I heard they go for on eBay.

Thanks Cody & Hyper!
I'll add that to my "dealership" list. I plan on going there next weekend, it's a bit of a drive for me.
I tried pushing the lenses out from the inside, no go.
I guess I'll just sand them down & paint them. Maybe I'll try one of the side ones first, to make sure it's not too dark.
I already have all the paint I need, since I'm planning on doing the headlight bezels next weekend anyway.

I wouldn't recommend tinting your markers with paint. Use something made for lenses that is semi transparent like VHT Nightshades or Rustoleum light tint (Idk, for sure what it's called). The tails come apart easy, but if you can't get the fronts apart, or decide to go another route there is a seller on ebay (neondials) who sells tinted markers and bulbs for about $55. They are very nice quality, I have them as well as some of my friends.

For the endcaps, tell the dealer you need caps for an '06 TJ and they'll get them for you, the fronts are dirt cheap, less than $8 for the pair, rears are about $25 a pair... Those nutsert thingys strip out easy and make it a pain to remove them. I busted mine off, if I'd had time and the right tool, I'd have just cut the screws..... You'll need screws for the new endcaps so save some or pickup some new ones.

I literally just ripped mine off. One came off just by hand... the other I helped with a small sledge hammer. I'm not even going to bother putting those end caps on because I'm just going to replace the whole bumper eventually anyways. I just did the front- left the back ones on.

Wait, black spray paint? Am I crazy or isn't that not going to let any light through? Use Nightshade, that's what all the ricers use to tint their taillights.

I.G. - thanks for the info! I added those endcaps to my parts list (man-is that growing fast!)
I think I'll go with those ebay lights you have, I was pretty leary about using paint, thats why I asked here before I started doing it.

Beer30 (love the name, btw!) I guess I was being too gentle with it. I'll get serious about it next chance I get & pop them off.
