Help Please

Ok I am new to this whole Jeep thing, whats the difference in TJ and TK? I have a 2000 Jeep Wrangler Sahara. I need a motor for it. My mechanic said to see how much a 305 or 350 conversion kit it because I cant find a motor under 1,000. Any help would be greatly appricated.

I think you mean "JK", its the new model of wrangler. Started in 07 i think, dont quote me. Look on craigslist for a used 4.0 jeep motor.

Could put a stroker in it or go for a magnum V8 if you can't find a good 4.0

You can put a 4.0 out of a Cherokee a grand Cherokee or wrangler between those years. Expand your craiglist search there on there I see like 5 a week on craiglist

I have looked every other day in my area, (South Carolina). Where do I find out about a conversion kit? Is mine a TJ?

If you are worried about spending $1,000 on an engine then a V8 swap is way out of your price range. A new rearend strong enough to handle a V8 will exceed $1,000.

Yes you have a TJ

If you cant afford a $1000 replacement 4.0 your not even close to being able to afford a Chevy V-8 conversion. Last one I did was in the $5,000 range including engine, adapters, rad, exhaust, electrical and computer.

Lots of 4.0's out there just beware of what your buying and make sure you have someone knowledgeable check it over before handing over the cash!

you need to find a wrecked xj, a wrecked one could be had for a grand. then just snatch the engine.

I was told that a 98 motor would not work in a 2000

LKQ pick-a-part has a used 4.0L for $795 in Charlotte, not sure of condition or mileage.

Just saw it was for a 2000. They do have one for a 2000 as well for $1135. It's a LKQ pick-a-part but believe the name is Keystone Automotive.
