Help troubleshooting AC issues please!

Yeah I know, roll down the windows. But the wife doesn't find that to be an adequate solution like I do. Sooooo....

My AC does not work. I replaced the AC/heater control panel today because it was faulty and I was hoping that would be the quick fix because I had no way of even turning on the AC before. No such luck. I've never had a compressor crap out in a vehicle before so I don't know what the symptoms of a DOA compressor are but mine does not make any noise at all when I turn on the AC (no click of the clutch engaging or anything). I do know that there's an AC switch but I have no idea what it does and if it would prevent the compressor from engaging or if it has a simpler purpose. I just want to have an idea of what I'm facing and I want to rule out the stuff that I could actually fix myself (could a fuse do it too even though everything else works fine?). Momma's going to be taking over DD duty with the Jeep soon (her commute is half of what mine is and the Jeep kicks my butt on the interstate) and we all know if Momma ain't happy ain't nobody happy so I have to get the AC going. Thanks!

There is a low pressure switch on the small aluminum pipe that goes to the compressor. If you pull it you will see 2 connector holes. Use a piece of wire and jump those terminals. The motor has to be running and the AC on. Watch the AC clutch and see if it engages when you jump the wires. If it engages that means your low on R134 or the switch is bad. More than likely you would be low on R134. If so you can buy a can at a auto parts store and then just follow the directions on the can.

Yep more then likely your freon is low. The above is the quick check.
Hopefully it's not the evaporator that sprung a leak. That is not anywhere near the top of my fun things to replace list.
