Exclamation !!!help!!! Why Am I Bouncing????

I just bought me a 97 Wrangler SE and took it for a drive and at 60 M.P.H. it started bouncing so bad it cracked the windshield. I am not saying it was vibrating I am saying that it is BOUNCING. Well I got the tires rotated and balanced and it was good to go. The only problem is now when I am going around a curve and hit a tiny small bump in the road then the bouncing comes back and the only way to fix it before I die is to slam on the brakes and start over. Any ideas???

I had that same problem with my jeep a few years ago..it was a combination of a shitty skyjacker lift i had in it and i had some bad wheel bearings ...so i'd check out some of those things ..I almost hit a jersey barrier at 60 mph..talk about my asshole getting tight real quick!!

thanks

Yeah I have yet to get a lift kit in it but thats soon of course because this stuff is addictive. I will sometimes just pul over on the side of the road and ride through the ditch. Well I will check the wheel bearings and grease em up again. Thanks

yeah id make sure the tires are balanced perfectly and go back and complain, i know that happened to me form my tires being unbalanced

lots of shops wont take the time to make it 100% perfect b/c most tires dont need to be, but big jeep tires do so take them back and ask them to make sure they're PERFECT

I would check all the bushings and links on the stabilizer bars.

Might be a good idea to change the shocks if you are still running the original black shocks.

Balancing the tires won't help this. Unbalanced tires will shake a car, and maybe make it bounce, but if a little bump starts the bouncing, then i would check your shocks. Just pull one off and push it up and down. Does it move almost freely? I.would guess your shocks are dead, causing a loss of control for bouncing. This video shows a jeep with NO shocks. is your problem similar to this?

I hate to say it, but that sounds like death wobble (DW). The key part is when you say you hit a bump it triggers it. If it is violent enough to crack your windshield and put a stain in your shorts, that's classic DW. Take a trip through the sticky at the top of this forum.

I was thinking DW too but that shakes the wheel violently left to right. Is the steerin wheel shaking or is it like the video?

Sorry guys, it looks like I was the one that started this fiasco. This 104 degree heat and downing some Mike's hard lemonade just made me delirious. To make matters worse, my wife caught me working around the house with my T-shirt on backwards.
