help with a lift kit

I just bought a 2003 Sahara, and it has 33" tires on it. The guy who had it before me, put 2" coil spacers on it, so it would clear the tires. It already has a transfer case drop on it as well. Now if i wanna put a 2.5" lift kit on it, will i have to change other things around it, or will be able to drive like that?

The t-case drop may or may not be enough if you swap a 2.5" lift in place of the 2" spacers. You'll just have to drive it to know because some Jeep configurations will vibrate with 2.5" of lift & just a t-case drop, others won't.

One more comment, 2.5" of suspension lift is not enough for 33" tires. Yes I know the previous owner only had 2" but he obviously didn't know what he was doing. 3" is the bare recommended suspension lift height for 33" tires with 4" being strongly recommended if you want to offroad. You could add a 1" body lift (no taller) which would give you 3.5" of clearance around the tires which would work a lot better. A 1" body lift from Performance Accessories (my personal recommendation) is around $129 list but it can probably be found for less if you shop around.

Don't you think maybe he has a small body lift too, since they did the TC drop?

heres what it looks like

This is a pic of it with the 2" spacers on it. It seems to have enough clearance, but if i take it offroad, i dont want it to hit.

I agree with Jerry 2.5" is not enough room for the 33". I am running a 4" lift and 1" t-case drop with 33's and it works great. If your going to take the time and lift it, ie not a BB then I would at least do a 4" lift for the 33's. Just remember 4" seems to be the magic number before you have to start looking at changing a lot (SYE, drive lines, ect.)

That's not enough clearance for off road! Maybe for mall crawling. Listen to Jerry, he knows of what he speaks.

When i measure from the the fender to the tire, its 5" in the back, and around 4.5" in the front. So if i put a 4" lift on this, it will sit higher than it is in the picture there?

yes you'll have roughly two more inches (varies a little by lift) in teh front and the back.

Jeep with 2'' Budget boost "spacer lift" and 33x12.5 tires.

Same jeep and same tires...4.25'' lift.

Wow thats sweet, that makes a big difference. Did you have to make alot of modifications to your jeep with the 4" lift?
