help with cb radio cobra lx 29

Going out on a whim here you guys have always helped me here before I was hoping you can do the same with this issue that I have I have a cobra LX 29 CB radio I am trying to properly tune it up I'm having a hard time calibrating the swr option. Manual says go t o channel 20 put on cal press mic to adjust rf. While still holding mic press the s/rfsw/cal button to switch to adjusr the swr. It wont let me switch nothing happens when I hit that button. Any ideas?

I have heard that those built in ones are crap, but I feel like they should be able to get the job done.

I can tell you how my external works and that might give a better idea, but you do have the manual.

on Channel 1 switch to FWD and press the mic button, adjust the dial to "SET". release the mic button and switch to REF, press the mic button again and take note of the swr reading. Do the same thing on Channel 40. Make adjustments as necessary.

I looked up your model and issue on google, and people are saying on other forums that it works just the same if you release the PTT and switch. Good Luck

I have the same cb. Ch 20, Go to cal, key mic, adjust knob to the cal (one short of full). Stop keying, push button on left to swr, key mic. Do same for 40 and 1. The meter is very poor and inaccurate though. I used a friends swr meter and he tuned my antenna for me. I also always get an antenna warning, called cobra and they said it is very common and sent me a pdf to adjust it but said i dont have to and it wont hurt anything.
It's better to regret something you did do, than to regret something you didn't do.
