Help with purchasing a wrangler

Hey guys, i'm looking to finally purchase a jeep wrangler and just wanted to see if the price this guy is asking. Also the jeep has a rust spot on the front right fender, how bad is that? Its a 99 Jeep Sahara, 4.0 Liter, 104k miles. He's asking 6000. Just wondering what you guys think

I'm just a newb but I think my sentiments will echo most of the forum... Check the frame throughly for any rust. Minor surface rust is easy to take care of, anything worse then carefully consider or even pass on the Jeep. If the fender is the only problem I would say jump on it. It looks repairable to me but even if you need to replace the fender it wouldn't be too costly.

As a reference I paid $10,300 for a TX rust free, 2000 4.0, 5 speed, Sport trim, with hardtop, 96k miles. I'd gladly pay $6k for that Sahara if all I had to do was replace and paint a fender.

X2 per above post. Check that frame out WELL! Where the transmission skid meets the frame, any of the welds and mounts. Get under it and get dirty. Use a screwdriver to poke through any suspect areas and see if it goes through. Also, check under the carpet by the gas pedal: look for a lot of rust there too. The fenders and body stuff is not hard to fix. The frame is a deal killer. Some will put fresh black paint over the rusty areas on the frame so look close!

if that one spot is the only rust then don't worry to hard on it. mine is rusting and bubbling the paint in about the same place on the drivers side. most people eventually replace the front fenders with metalcloaks or some other brand anyway. and that seems to be a good jeep for 6k.

The only deal breakers I could think of at that price would be a cracked head or bad frame rust. Or a rebuilt title.
