Help with Tire and rim sizes ill need for 2 inch lift

Hi im kinda new to all this, I have a 2000 TJ and i want to lift it 2 inches and put 31" tires i also want to get new rims, my question is what size rims 15,16,17... and do i need any backspacing and what width 9.5, 10.5, 12 ?
If anyone could give me suggestions, im installing a 2 inch old man emu suspension lift. thanks

I'd stick with 15", tires are cheaper for 15" wheels. Plus you get more sidewall flex on a 15x8 wheel than you do on a larger diameter due to the tire's taller sidewall... a very good thing when you're offroading. The biggest tire you can install with a 2" lift is a 32X11.50 which I'd run on a 15x8 wheel. Anything wider would be too wide. Heck 15x8 is the wheel of choice for even 35x12.50 tires like I run.

Backspacing-wise, you want anywhere from 3.75" to 4.5". I lean more towards 4.5" but that much backspacing is a bit tougher to find.

When you have a choice, buy American.

15's are getting harder to find tires for locally but they are generally cheaper.
16" tires are easier to find, in fact if I was doing it over again I would prob run 16's with a 32" tire. 11.50 width and 4.5" backspacing. If I was running a 12" wide tire drop the backspacing to 3.75-4"
I ran 31 10.50's on factory 15x8's with 5.5 backspacing with no big probs. Slight rub in u turns and some during flex.
I now run 33 12.50's on 15 x 8's with 3.75 bs. No rub yet.

Hope that helps.
