Well the time has come to finally start this project. I'm planning on ordering the 6.1 Hemi crate motor tomorrow, just waiting for the shipping price from the supplier. I'll be sure to let everyone know all the status updates/problems/solutions i encounter and publish lots of photos along the way!! wish me luck on this one, i'm gonna need it!

i swapped my jeep out as a dd with a hemi.. too bad its in my car and not my jeep =/ the motor is great tho, even road in a lj with a hemi and it was amazing..

why a 6.1 instead of a 5.7? the 5.7 is cheaper and doesnt take too much mods to be able to be compared to the 6.1.. been looking around for mods for my 5.7

right now ill be staying with the stock Rubi 44's but most likely im goin to get dana 60's at a later date and regear as well. i figured id go with the 6.1 cause ive seen the 5.7 conversion in a TJ before, but not a lot of 6.1's plus i figured, if im gonna go for a hemi 5.7 why not just make it the 6.1

I'll take the 44's of your hands, for the right price. That will make mine complete. After the cage.

ill be sure to take the pics as i go along, it may be a slow build judging by my budget and balancing time at work. My Rubi is a 2004 so its got the 5-speed manual. my plan is to use the stock 44's because its not an essential part of the swap. I know eventually ill have to get 60's, at least in the rear to handle the power. Im using hotwireauto to do the harness swap, ill betaking my fuse harnesses and block out to send to the guy so he can reprogram it. Every step along the way will have pictures. Once i complete the swap in 6 months- year (i hope) ill have a list of everything that i have extra. Ill keep everyone updated! the crate motor should be shipping sometime this week, ill take pics of it when i get it!

How much for the motor and trans. Also will you be taking out the harness and cpu since you won't need that for the hemi? Maybe a package deal?

Hey! Hotwireauto... what kinds of prices does he quote for building a new harness? I'm planning on doing the 5.7 swap and figure finding the harness will be the biggest challenge.
