Heres a pic of my jeep, what should I do???

I have a 98 tj and just put a new set of wheels and tires on it. The wheels are 18's and the tires are 285/65/18s (31" tall). They are really fat. I have a set of wheel spacers comming so they dont rub the frame and a set of 7" fender flares so they are covered. My thing now is I want a little bit of a lift to give the tires a bit more room but not sure what lift to get. I don't want anymore than a 1" body lift because I don't like the big gap but I don't think 1" is enough. Looking for your opinions on how high i should go and keep in mind I have a fairly limited cash flow. Thanks in advance!!!

not a really big fan of those types of rims. theyre nice, just not on a jeep but at least you didnt put 20s or 22s lol. anyway, i say save up a little then put a good 4-6" lift with 35's and those rims would fit perfectly into your setup

Well I got the wheels and tires pretty cheap ($700) and the tires are like brand new nitto terra grapplers. Im not planning on going with bigger tires for at least a few years. Just looking for a small lift to clear tires better. Looking at a 2" BB but what all is involved in doing the lift??

its pretty easy. as far as i know, you pretty much just put the spacers under the shocks. here is a writeup on it

Great write up. Seems pretty easy. Next question, some kits i've found come with shocks, but most dont. With a 2'' spacer kit am I going to need new shocks? Thanks

I'm sure you would, it would be a good idea anyway.

You don't have to add new shocks but you will want to sooner than later probably. You do need to extend the bumpstops. If you're tires are 31's you don't need any lift at all to fit them. If your bs on the wheels is wrong, then put some 1.5" spacers on them and call it good, of course your bargain wheels just became a tad more expensive.....

Yeah I don't NEED a lift, but it would give me more room to flex. Spacers are already on there way and even after having to buy spacers it was still worth the price. thanks for the help!!!

If money is tight, sell the silly rims.

That setup would like 3 inches of lift, I'd guess.

Ok, I ordered 1.5" wheels spacers, a 2.25" budget boost lift, ceramic brake pads and some 6.5" fender flares. Even tho it seems some people don't like my chrome rims I think its gonna look pretty sweet. I just hope I get everything in before friday so saturday I can get it all done. fun fun fun
