I just got a Hi Lift a few weeks back and its been sitting in the garage. I want to mount it on the back of my jeep. Does anyone know a good mount or way to put it on there. Also will it being in the rain and stuff mess it up? This is the first experience with one of these lifts so if I sound dumb sorry
Alright, so I looked around and read about Hi-lift mounts. I wanted my jack inside protected from the elements. I still wanted to be able to put the top up or down so I chose these.
But $80.00? Are they serious?
So off to Advance Auto Parts
$5.67 !
A little welding...
A little more welding... That is heat shrink on the u-bolts
A little one-sided magnet tape as an insulation
Right side installed for the base of the jack
Left side for the top of the jack
And Voila!
About 3 hours later!
The downer is in order to fold the top I have to remove it all. And if I drive like this...
Awesome job you did with the homemade mounts. I no the roll bar padding is thicker on the 03+ TJs. I had to use a 4" exhaust clamp to get it around the bar with the padding still on, and that fit just right once the nuts were tightened.
I had member "kfdjason7520" make me a set of the clamps back in November, but wanted to wait till the soft top went on before installing them. They are awesome, fit perfect, and look so much cleaner then the exhaust clamps. Installing was simple on 2003 + TJ's. Just remove the foam under the roll bar padding. Older TJ's won't have the padding. Soft top closes even easier now. I could have mounted it lower, but when the soft top folds back, it fits nicely under it, and on top of the sub box. Here are some pics; if the pics don't work, here is a direct link; http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f22/2003x-tj-build-944608/index53.html

I went with a hood mount from Warrior Products. I didn't want it inside due to already limited space. Theft isn't a problem here, but the cops give out free cable gun locks, so I attached one (keep that in mind for all your exteral stuff. The cops usually have a free gunlock program going on, so go pick up a few).
I bought the Extreme jack, but repainted it all in quality automotive red enamel and baked it on, plus keep the actual jacking mech covered in the HiLift neoprene zip on boot...I soak it in lube every few months, so no rust problems
I've got a question. I too like the look of it on the hood but my hood support broke so when I open it it has to lean on the window so would it just be best to fix the hood support. Because I don't know if the jack would hit the window if I leaned it on the window. Any thoughts?
I looked at those but came to realize Iy won't fit. I have spare tire sitting up in the trunk along with tool box and recovery bag and sub. It's packed back there.
Loco I like that mount! Where did you find those large knob bolts to attach it?
