I'm looking to buy a used Jeep Sahara TJ and apparently it has been maintained really well, but it was stolen once and had it's tires taken. The car was on blocks so it wasn't to damaged. The dealer assures me the it's in perfect condition but it has 137km on it. How long do these Jeeps live for? I really want to get it and i'm pretty much in love with it but i don't wanna get ripped off. It's 9,000$

Of course it depends on the year as to how much that Jeep is worth. I wouldn't be scared of any Jeep with the 4.0 having that many miles as long as it has been well cared for like you said. To find out what Jeeps are selling for in your area take a look at Ebay or in the paper or on a website like cars.com. That will give you an idea of resale in your area. Here I have seen many 1997-1999 TJs with the 4 banger and 120-150k miles selling for the 8-9k range. Good luck and if you buy it enjoy it and love it!

I like that...they call out to you..It's so true! They also summon the money out of your wallet in some mystical way too.

I paid 13.5K for my '02 Sport X (soft top) with 40K miles.

Check Kelly's Blue Book or Edmunds and compare proces.

x2 i paid 10600 for my 01 with 93000 and got a 3 year 36000 mile warranty and the lovely cracked windshield. It came with an afternarket bestop targa top they came down from 14000. ALso do you have a trade in. Because dealers love to jack the prices up for the trade in. it is kind of a feel good thing for them. if you dont have a trade in id talk them down to what rip said ATLEAST 7,500

I think thats way to high of a price I paid 10,300 for my 99 with only 55,XXX miles and a 3 inch lift and 32" BF G a/t

Thats alot of milage that you dont know whether or not was taken care of....if you can get it down to like 6k then It might be a better buy...dont pay 9 though

I would guess the dealer has maybe 4-6k in the jeep. 6000-7500 would be the range I would look to buy it with its history.

plenty of questions

Ask how it got stolen.

The TJ has a chip in the key, so this means if it was stolen, then it was dragged IN PARK up a ramp ot towed. both canbe bad.

or did they just steal the wheels

if they tried to bypass the electronics then they f-d up the steering column, did the dealer replace that?

I would also ask about any other damage, did the bad guys take the radio or do any other damage to the interior

and most of all, how long with the dealer warranty the jeep, after all "It is a good jeep" and they should not have an issue guaranteeing it right?
