I want to do HIDs. But I know nothing. Do they have low beam and brights? And did I make the right choice by starting off with these.
(Hella 7" round h4 conversion off road headlamp kit)
I have hid's on my jeep and they are a significant difference over stock and even regular halogen bulbs in the conversions. For the H4 you just have to make sure you get the Bi-Xenon HID kit because that'll give you brights as well. 5000-6000k is the whitish color and anything higher gets blueish and eventually purple. 4300k is white with a hint of yellow and 3000k is yellow. The whiter the light, the brighter it seems to be. I think they're a great upgrade over stock if you can't afford LEDs like trucklights. Also make sure you get the 35W ones over the 55W because the 55w get too hot and can melt the housing of the conversion headlight housing.
In my opinion and many others, HID lights shouldn't be used in anything but a projector. Otherwise they scatter a lot of light that can hurt on coming traffic's night vision. The scattering of light also means you don't have the light focused where you need it and can use it. There are kits that will allow you to retrofit a projector into an H4 housing. I understand that there are shields/reflectors that will focus HID light without a projector, but I haven't seen any that give a decent cut off.
Some customer like the Hella H4 Kit with the Raxiom LED Bulbs. They seem to throw a good amount of light and you can aim the housings so they don't blind on-coming traffic.
Let me know what other questions you have or if you'd like a quote!
Sure! I assume you mean the Hella/Raxiom LED set up. I'll shoot you a PM now!
