You could try by either the driver's right leg or passenger's left leg. I think the piece is part of the center console.

I have the same CB and I mounted it under the dashboard on the back side of the shifter.

Since I only kept crap in my center console and my speaker in it was blown I gutted it and mounted the CB in it, then mounted an external speaker on my sound bar so the only thing you see is the speaker. When I use it I keep the console closed, there is plenty enough room between the lid and base of the console to allow the mic cable to fit through.

x2, good unit - I have one in my Jeep. Very stealthy, when not in use - I store it in my console, out of sight. Even my antenna has a quick disconnect for when I'm NOT on the trails.

Don’t think I will try that!!

The mic is only inside when it is not in use, I have another mic clip on the outside of the console for easy access on the trails.

I mounted mine vertically on the back side of center console. Then just run the mic cord forward and set next to the transfer case shifter for easy access.

Some trail clubs require you have a cb for emergency contact. Also helps with communicating on trails with buds.

More than you'd think...although they're nowhere near as common as they used to be back in the Smokey and the Bandit days. lol

They're still very common with truckers and off-roaders

I haven't put a cb in my Jeep yet...but I always had one in my truck (Dodge Dakota) tuned to channel 19 so I could talk to the truckers while traveling.

IMO, a cb radio is the most accurate radar detector currently available (seriously...a radar detector goes off when the cops radar is hitting you which means you're screwed with a lot of these "instant on" types of radar, your CB goes off when the first trucker within range sees the cop). They are also a godsend when there's a wreck ahead...the truckers ahead of you will always radio back the details and location of the wreck and tell you which lanes are open so you can get through it as quickly and safely as possible. I also loved it when traveling during a big ice storm over Christmas a few years ago...the interstate was a sheet of ice for nearly 150 miles. I joined in a convoy of truckers who were just trying to get to their next stops safely and we cruised together between 20 and 45mph the entire trip. The truckers ahead would keep us updated on the junctions we were heading toward (the one I was getting off at was closed for a while due to a 15+ car accident on the ramp) and let us know if and when they were re-opened.

Hm. Sounds interesting. Is channel 19 standard or do you have to scan? I'll prolly look into picking one up now.

channel 19 is the trucker channel...its where they hang out...kinda like a chat room or bar. they discuss everything from traffic conditions to who banged what fat ugly girl last night.

channel 9 is the emergency channel...you'll never get a reply back, but basically most police radios monitor it. channel 9 is not for chatting.

channels 1-40 (excluding 9) are for general chat....whatever citizens wanna talk about. hence..Citizen's Band radio.

I installed my Cobra 75 last year, mainly for The Easter Jeep Safari we go to every year in Moab. They don't require a CB but recommend one. I mounted the box up under the keft side kick panel. You would never know a CB was mounted in the jeep. I put a remote speaker on the rollbar by my ear, can't hear after 30 years of air impacts, I know, dumb, but we didn't use hearing protection back in the Dinosaur days. and flying planes without headsets for 20 years, finally started using them in 1986. I keep the CB head wrapped in a towel and laying along side the seat when not using it. Looks like just rags piled along the seat. looking in the jeep you can't tell it's got a CB except for the antenna. The head will also come right off if a person wants to take it in the house. It works fine for a small CB.

Hey there was a write up I seen either on here or somewhere else that showed a guy custom fabbing a rack system above the windshield connect from driver side to passenger side to hold and hide your cb and anything else you want to hide and it was cheap stuff he got at the local hardware store! He said it's easy to do up there because he was a big guy and you have all that head room. The only way you would even see it was If the top was down, and the cb and external speaker all mounted to it so it wouldn't fall out! I'm gonna be building something like that! If I can find the site I'll post it on here!

Yes, not everyone has the other driver's in the groups phone number, and if it is something everyone should hear, like stop the road is washed out, they will all here it at the same time. They come in handy when driving all night to stay awake. Another good use while traveling is that truckers will be giving warnings about accidents as well as speed traps. You could get useful info on how to get around accidents. If you break down you can usually ask a trucker for help. They are more than welcome to help just to have a change in their routine. As far as the channels for truckers go, its normally 19, but for some reason they use two other channels on the I5 corridor. I want to say its 17 until you get down to below LA, and it goes to 15 or something.

You can spend anywhere from $10 to $300+ on a CB radio...depends how many bells and whistles you want. i've got two i'm not using...sell you one for $10+shipping...pm for details.

OMG this makes me feel older then I am. Back before we all had cell phones and yet when we started getting them but it cost a fortune to talk the CB was the only way to go. This was up until less then ten years ago that most ppl I knew kept them in their vehicles to use. I miss using it on a regular basis but still keep mine around for off-road use and traveling down the highway. Channel 19 is the universal trucking channel but local business's may use another channel for their operations. Growing up in my local town we used 21 so we could talk without getting stepped on by the truck traffic as we cruised High Street. Oh those were good memories. Btw when you use the CB you normally have a "handle" instead of using your name. This would be the same as having a screen name today.

"Breaker breaker two one!"
