High beams and fog lights

I've read several previous threads re: the change to enable you to use the fog lights with the high beam head lights. Two questions:
1. can you still use the fog lights w/low beam head lights
2. can you use the high beam head lights w/o the fog lights
Thanks

Yes on both questions. I did it and it's great. You won't regret it. Took about 30 seconds to do.

Ill see what I can find. I know that there is a relay behind the glovebox that you bend a pin on that enables this.

Rubicon Owners Forum - View topic - Fog Light Relay

Here is one link...I think location of the relay depends on the year of the jeep

I think its 00 and up or 01 and up... but the mod is the same, just a different location... I did it on mine a couple of weeks back.

Question, just looked at mine and was wondering, if I bend the pin 90 degrees, how does it fit back in there. There is another relay right next to it. Mine is an 02.

You have to bend it around where it comes up next to the housing to fit between the relays

I couldn't get my to bend around very easily, so I just bent it back and forth 'til it broke off. No problems thus far.

Hmm interesting my fog lights go off when I put on highbeams. I wish they would stay on so long as I have the fog light switch on. I'm going to cjeck my relay tomorrow maybe the PO did this mod already

Nope. What you're describing in the first sentence is the factory setup. What you say you're wanting to happen in the second sentence is what the mod gives you.

If you think about it, report back here after you do it. I'm curious to know if the fogs will still go off when you shut the headlights off post-mod. My Jeep is a 2000 so it still has the headlight switch in the dash (Left of the steering column) and the fog light switch is in the center area with the switch for rear wiper, locker switch if you have a Rubicon, ect. Mine (the fogs) shut off with the headlights, even if I leave the fog switch on.

I guess if yours is new enough to have headlight/foglight controls on the column stalk it'll be a moot point, eh?

Mine's on the stalk, and I just automatically switch off the fogs at the same time I turn off the lights.... No clue how it'd work for you Josh... Trey did this mod on mine without me even realizing he'd done it.... I just thought they came that way, till he told me he'd done it...

You can have the headlights off and the fog lights on with this mod. BUT you do have to have the running lights (parking lights) on. You can't have the fogs on and the parking lights off with this mod without doing some rewiring.

'02 TJ on the stalk as well

Here is a link to enable your fog lights with high beams:

Fog Lights. Enabling fog lights with high beams on Jeep Wrangler

Also, the KC Hilites kit #6314 works great for keeping the low beam filaments on along with the high beam filaments when high beams are on. Much more light when your high beams are on.

03 tj and mines on the stock. When I go to turn off headlights it auto turns off fog lamps. Even after the mod as ray said . Great mod anyhow

Did this mod last week after reading this thread and love it. Only took 5 minutes and that includes popping the hood, finding the relay, walking to the toolbox to get needlenose pliers to bend terminal, replacing relay, and testing.
