Highelift jack....Gas cans ?

First, Do you need a Highlift? and what kind of mounts do you use I like Tiny's but cant see how its Mounted on her Bumper.

Gas Cans Here in Ca. We have to CARB Compliant so most jerry cans have sissy spouts that i've seen, Can you still get real Jerry cans anywhere?

yes but i dont theink they will ship them to you in cali, you will have to have someone else get it and drive it across the border(cali's not the mexcican one), or buy it at a store in another state

i'm not sure how tiny has hers mounted, but i have mine mounted on the rear bumper with the high lift 4xrac. it's just two brackets that hold it to the bumper. i'll try and take some pics later.

Here's a link on quadratec for the 4X Rac, they seem to be very popular, you could probably make some if you can work with metal. http://www.quadratec.com/products/92200_04.htm

Notice the bolts also have holes in them. I have mine mounted to the rear bumper with these and have locks going through the bolt holes to keep people from trying to take it.

if som1 wants it that bad they'll stand on it and rip the bolts right off the bumper
id rather see the person take the time to unscrew it and give me more time to look out the window and see them

You can get the good fuel cans on the internet shipped here(Cali.) but they have to be used. I got some through www.e-gunparts.com. They were $11. something a piece, and in good shape. A very resonable price, they sell the spouts for them as well. Yes you are right, the CARB cans suck, I gave two new ones away.

Yes you will need a High Lift jack if you play off road. Don't buy any Harbour Freight crap, go with High Lift or Tiger Jack. I always keep a 60' on my Jeep and a 48' on my trailer, ya never know when you might need one.

Good luck, Doug

i used to have mine on the front until some guy in an s-10 decided to stomp on the brakes right in front of me. it bent the crap outta my high lift, totalled his truck and did no other damage to my jeep. it sucked, but a new high lift and i was good to go. so i put it on the back so if anybody decides to run into me, it won't hurt the jeep(hopefully).

The standard GI can is made by blitz, they also make a holder that bolts on to wherever you want it. On the other hand see if you can find an old M151 1/4 ton, take a look at how that can is held on with just a small bracket and a heavy canvas strap, same way on the armoured personnel carriers like the 113, 577 and M2 bradley, just a small L shaped bracket and a footman loop up near the handle and it holds the cans tight.

The cans are in the $20-$30 range in most of the stores around here, I got a few on sale when they had a special 2 for 1 sale.

I use all 5 of mine every week to fill up in either NJ or Allentown Pa on the way home, whoever is cheaper and when I say cheaper I mean like .90 cents a gallon from where I live in the poconos.

honestly, i bought mine because my jeep didn't have a jack in it and i couldn't find one anywhere. so i figured it would be a easy way to avoid buying a winch for the time being(i know it's a pita to use as a winch) and i got a jack out of the deal. that's why i bought mine. all that to say, you probably don't need one if you have a jack that can reach the bottom of the axle and lift it.

you don't really need anything for your jeep, but that didn't stop you from buying your lift did it? it's also easier to use offroad, if you're on level ground.

I have a 4" lift on mine,I needed the jack b/c the factory jack wasn't enough to jack up my jeep and change a 33" tire. It's up to you though. My suggestion is get one and you will be glad you got it when you need to use it.
Like it has been stated, don't buy a piece of s**t jack, buy the good one.I already made the mistake of buying the cheaper one, needless to say,I have a highlift now, which I put between back seat and the tailgate.

I would deff. suggest getting one to anyone that doesnt already have one. Sure it can be used as a winch, and it comes in very ahndy when your stuck while off road but it has tons of other uses. Hell, just the other day I used it like a pick to break down a wall of washed out rock and dirt so I could make it up the rest of a washed out valley. Trust me, its more than just a jack.

Highlift- buy some 2 1/2" muffler clamps, paint them black and mount it to you rear roll bar. Costs $5 and its out of the dust and weather.

Gas Cans- try your local army surplus and look for an old diesel can. You can slo just get a crappy new Cal. can and use a $5 sipohon from HF.

Hope that helps.
