Hinge pins

Just curious...

I finally stripped my Jeep naked for the summer. But in the process of taking off the doors, all four of the hing pins snapped off at the nut. They appear that they are fixed into the door hing itself. Has anyone else had this happen?

Jules

Yup. Snapped off two so I got my trusty little hacksaw out and nubbed off the rest of them and ground them smooth. They've been that way for a year.

I refuse to admit how I snapped them off, but it hasn't been a problem having them gone.

Ha ha.. now I'm curious. So it doesn't look like they are that important.. well, the door is still securely on.. it just doesn't have the nut.

They add a little security to keep people from boosting your doors. I'm kinda hoping someone will so I can get half doors.

haha put some big long bolts with a hole so you can add a lock on the bottom or if the bolts are long enough make it hard to steal since it will be hard to pull up the door lol
