Arrow Home-made Gas tank skid

Hi,
I managed to put a nice dent in my tin-foil-like gas tank "skid" last weekend and I want to make a decent skid to replace it. It doesnt seem like it would be too hard to make.
any write-ups or tips?

Thanks for any help ,
-Matt
