homemade rock sliders

Im thinking about making my own rock sliders but i need a template to follow. Does anyone know where i can get one or do yall know of a site where it might show how to fab these up? Any links or pics would be greatly appreciated.

you dont even really need a template. all i did was measured up 5.5 inches on the side of my jeep. then measured from flare to flare on the top and the same on the bottom of the rocker. that gave me the perfect angle to fit between the flares. i drew it up on a peice of cardboard and it was right on. now all i need is for someone to put it in steel...any takers?

ya im trying to make some like shrockworks or the spyders. I dont like the square tubing. I want them to also have a tube step. Im starting to think it might be best to just buy them. This nurse i work with knows how to weld and he said materials would cost something like 50 bucks so it is very tempting to build but i dont have a template. The front would be easy to make with cardboard but its the angles underneath that wory me a bit. Thanks for the input guys. If yall know anymore links that would be sweet.

what angles underneath are you talking about

just take your measurements
then weld the 3/16 steel at a 90 or find some one with a break to bend it
mock it up weld up the tubing then bolt it into place your done if I had a welder I would have already have built some

Well if you look under your jeep you will notice there is like a 30 degree break you will have to make in order to get these to mount flush unless you want a gap between the guard itself. If you look at the higher end guards you will see they break at a 90 then there is a 30 or 20 degree break after that before it flatens out again. Or do yuo think this is not a must. Im confused. Or should i just extend the lip no more than 1 or 1.5 inches? If the lip is only 1 inch will this still give me the same protection? Thanks
