Homemade Tube doors. Anyone?

Has anyone tried making / fabricating their own set of half-tubular doors for their TJ?. I plan on doing it for as little money as possible. Maybe with a mesh net, padded top bar and basic latch. I love the change of making stuff for a fraction of what it would cost in the store.

Old S-10 blazer tire carriers make a great start to the door. the swing arm works nicely.

Thanks for the idea of starting with an old tire carrier. IF anyone has pics of their own project please share.

The handles/latches are usually what trip people up. They end up with gate latches, and sometimes that just ain't right.

Building the perfect Tube Door

i have also heard that you can build a tube door using a Blazer/Jimmy tire carrier.
