Question Hood Bra thoughts ?

I just got my first Jeep its a 2003 Wrangler X white. Im from NY so obviously i wanna protect the body from rust and dings because I already have to deal with salt. So my question is what do people think about the V-Bra its the style that comes up from the front of the hood like a V then straps to the window latch on the hood. I like how it looks but im concerned about rubbing and more importantly water, snow, salt sitting under it and causing possible rust. Im debating between the V- Bra, deflector, or hood armor whats everyones thoughts. Thanks ! My first post on here, first jeep im trying to learn haha !

Welcome to WF

As for bras I like them big and easily removed but not on Wranglers.

Welcome to the forum! Wow, your first post and we're already talking about bras & you're already hiding under a chair Anyway, I have to agree with Nick when it comes to bras. But hey, it's your Jeep, you do whatever you want

I like them. Dont be lazy and clean underneath regularly and you should not have any problems.

I don't like them because after you've had it on a while and you take it off, the front end will sag.

Welcome!
personally, not a big hood bra fan on any model jeep. If you feel compelled to put something on your hood, think about a hood deflector. Bushwacker makes an ABS plastic diamond plate that looks good and beefy.

I purchased a black triangle shaped bra for my '04 Rubicon. It has "Jeep" stitched into it in silver lettering (bra is black) and the silver matches the body color. I like it one day and don't the next. My wife loves it, me not so much, but it looks okay.

I'm not a fan of them on any kind of car, seen a few nice cars that the paint was rubbed off from the bras.

They look OK I guess, but they're really hard on the paint.

I always thought they looked goofy, unless your "headlights" need some extra support.

Welcome! Hey, what you do with your Jeep is your business! If you do do a bra, make sure you clean under it on a regular basis.

I like my Jeep braless, but the ol' lady rarely complies with my "rules"!

Unfortunately a V-bra doesn't offer much protection against anything but dead bugs as the hood is too flat to worry too much about dings and dents. If you like the look, go for it as they do look nice on a white Jeep and paint fade will be negligible versus a darker colored vehicle (though there may be a rub issue on the clear coat that can be buffed out). But don't do it for protection sake. You'd be better off Plasti-Dipping your grille (removable) as that will protect against rocks and chips the best. And that looks bad ass on a white Jeep.

Oh yeah, and welcome to the forum. You can learn a lot of good things from these guys. I know I have!

Personally,
Dumbest/ugliest thing you can put on ANY vehicle!!

Moisture collects under them also and rots the body away faster than the salt you'll be in!!

I thought that only applied to vehicle bras!

Pay a little extra for the push-up variety. You'll save hundreds on a "lift" down the road.

Bad idea. They look ugly and are pointless. Get a 3M clear car bra.

Go with the bra, and don't be religious about keeping it and the jeep clean, we body guys will love you long time.

I can't tell you how many Chrysler hoods we replaced because of bras on them.

All it takes is some dirt/debris and you end up with something like the shot above.
Even better is at the bottom, where it wraps around the hood, moisture and those debris work like sandpaper on the paint, and once through the paint that sheet metal rusts in no time.

p.s. a bra on a jeep? is your name Barbie?

Putting a bra on a jeep is like putting a jock strap on your girlfriend. Neither needs it and it is embarrassing for both.

I got one because I like the look and my hood previously went through some hail so it's covered with dings I also got the jeep logo one and it's fits great love the look and as long as u clean under it your fine... It is your jeep so who cares what anybody else thinks as long as you like it. If we all went off what everybody else liked we'd be driving around in civics... I'm going to hide under my own chair now

x2 on the 3M clear bra. It won't rub the paint off, won't look goofy, and will have the same protection benefits as the regular bra. I did a quick google search and looks like you can get 'em for around 100 bucks. They make hood/fender/door ones too.

Had one once on another vehicle. After about 3 years it looked like I had a 100 grid sand paper bra (I kept it clean too). The air stream makes them constantly grind on your clearcloat/paint....no matter how soft and fluffy they are.

Bras are good for if your going on a long trip but before and after that they need to be off. If your wanting a bra to have on all the time as I said before get a 3M clear bra. It will protect it better and it wont scratch and it will let the paint fade evenly and your Jeep wont look like a mall Crawler with it's bra on....

Thanks!

Thanks this is exactly the info i was looking for ! And a little bit of comedic relief is always welcomed with me ! But i was def torn between a bra and deflector i like the V bra style but wasnt to blown away. I was really worried about rubbing on the paint and water underneath. Ill probably do a deflector I have a white jeep so i like how the black deflectors look too. Thanks alot guys !

Don't get one, I just bought a jeep that sat for two years with one on and it just destroyed the paint and fenders, I buffed most of it out but the previous owner just let it go.
