I've been looking for a few months and just having trouble finding one. Tell me how you did it!

Same here. We have had one for 6 years, our 4th. It is really my wifes, but I kind of took it over. Got home from a MS walk in the spring, and my wife was on Craigslist.. She said we need to go look at this jeep for you it's just down the road. Ok we went and looked at it. A 01 Sport Sienna Pearl in nice shape, guy wanted 4k. When I crawled under and saw the D44, the rest is history. It is in my garage now getting a makeover..

I looked on craigslist for about 4 months. They also were going really fast so I missed about 4 good ones before I found mine.

Checked craigslist everyday for about 2 years when I was 14. I had about 6k to spend and looked everywhere within 100 miles basically. Tied the knot June of this year and have been smilin every day since!

I searched several different craigslist search engines (zoomthelist.com was my favorite), cars.com, cargurus.com, yahooauto.com. I searched for about 8 months before I found "the one" on cargurus.com from a dealership of all places. It was truely the best deal I found. So don't write off dealerships just because they typically mark everything up so much.

Good luck in the search.

My brother and I were driving down the street when he saw this clean TJ for sale at an RV dealership. We were not actually looking for a Jeep on that day. But, this one caught our eye. It was about $5,000 more than I was planning on spending on a Jeep. It was exceptionally clean. The rest is history.

Don't forget your local papers. Older people don't use CL or EBay and they will advertise in the local papers. I just bought a one owner 02 X 6cyl w 55k for $6000 from an elderly lady. It was her 60 year old son's Jeep whom passed away. It needs some cleaning but the body is rust free.

First Jeep, happened to pass it on the side of the road @ a small used car lot. I talked them down to what I felt it was worth and then dealt with my bank.

Second Jeep: about 6-9 months of watching CL, ebay, forums, autotrader, cars.com
- ended up stumbling into the ad on CL. Hardest part this time was getting my wife to say "for the love of God, just buy the damn thing!"....Apparently I'm annoying. :D

I missed out on a great deal on a LJ Rubi by not hoping in the car and driving 5hrs..., but decided that's okay, as I wanted a Jeep I could buy with Cash this time. (Yes I'm justifying it in my head lol)

craigslist. I had notifications sent to me for every jeep listed within 200 miles. Didnt take too long. Great deal on mine from an older couple who only used it for the 4WD in the hills of CT

Craigslist here too. Of course as I was on the way home with it I got a call back on a 2000 Sahara with about 100K less miles on it for the same price that I had assumed was sold.

Funny, the one place I wasn't looking was craigslist. I did 99% of my searching at work and CL is blocked here.

I used ebay, autotrader, and cargurus to comb though the Jeeps for sale in the Southeast for months, getting an idea of what I would have to pay when I found the exact spec I was looking for (I wanted a 2006 LJ with low miles and very few mods so I could personalize it myself). After about 4 months, I finally found the one I wanted on ebay. I communicated with the seller back and forth and he came across as a very upstanding guy. A deal was struck and I had my Jeep!

I knew I wanted a jeep since I was a little kid. One of my earliest memories is going to watch fireworks on 4th of July in my dad's old CJ. Then when I was about 10 my grandpa bought a beautiful new TJ, and I fell in love with it. After driving various beater cars, I bought a new Chevy Cruz. Drove it for 6 months, got bored with it. My mom needed a car and asked if she could just take over payments on mine, so we did that. And I saved up a down payment and finally got a jeep from a dealership.

I searched at a lot of "jeep only" dealerships around north Georgia. Most of them seemed kinda sketchy or required an ungodly down payment (since I had just put a car loan on my credit). Finally I found my jeep at a dealership for people with no credit/ bad credit. I have an interest rate that is sky high, but I'm driving a vehicle that I've wanted my whole life. My 01 tj is gonna end up costing over 18k once it's paid for. But I don't really mind because I plan on keeping it forever.

I got my 97 from here on Wrangler Forum, My 98 from Craigslist, My 03 from Craigslist and My 13 I got from the dealer. My wife keeps telling me to stay off Craigslist.
