How did you get into jeeps

Im 32 and only owned pickups trucks until 4months ago. My 2 brothers and brother and sister in law all have wranglers. Never saw the point in them really until my older bro took me out to an offroad park about 5 months ago. I watched a lifted 70s ish truck spend some time trying to get up a rocky hill re adjusted his path a few times and finally got it, it was pretty cool that is until a stock jeep drove right up the damn hill without hesitation. After the day at the park I was hooked on jeeps. Traded my truck in on new family SUV sold old family SUV and bought my first jeep 4 months ago. 1997 4.0 sport and spent almost every weekend working on it and adding mods.

my first car was an 86 xj. it was good perfect high school car. dad had one as well both with our 86 xjs wheeling in the desert and lava fields, it was great. thats when I decided I always wanted a jeep. since the xj ive had 4 vehicles. 3 have been jeeps. the only one that wasn't was the biggest mistake ive ever made.

I'm 21 now, bought my TJ last year. I was born into the Jeep world. I grew up with my dad and uncle and grandpa all having early CJ-5's.

Had to give up drag racing my motorcycle. Now I've found a slower form of excitement.

i learned to drive useing a 46 willis. All my Uncles and my dad had jeeps. We would go riding on the weekends; back then it was all open land and groves around here and you could go just about anywhere you wanted.

I got into wheeling at 18, but that was with a Toyota pickup. Back then all I saw around was TJ's and yj's and I liked being different in a pickup.
Cut to 12 years later, bought my 2000 TJ, instant love which I never had with another vehicle.
Aside from my emissions problems, this is the funnest vehicle I have ever had.

Always liked Jeeps, went offroading in a Tacoma on occasion, then decided to finally get a Heep. I never thought I'd get into the rock crawling thing, now its all I seem to want to do. Why must Jeeps be so expensive.

I blame my parents.

Growing up in the 70s and 80s, my dad had 2 different CJ-7s; my mom had 2 different SJs and an XJ. I was given a YJ in '89. There was always at least 1 Jeep in the driveway growing up.

My Dad bought me a 1979 CJ7 in 1988 with a 304 I built it up and it was a chick magnet. Owned one ever since, Im on my 8th one now. Just bought the son a TJ and daughter has a XJ. Because of where we live a Jeep is just part of life if you want to get out in the winter.

Why lie? I only got into jeeps because this was my first daily driver. I picked up my 2003 jeep tj sport with the 4.0l with 60k miles on it, an automatic tranny, and cold A/C for $4k and was paid off. I originally wanted a 2002 camaro with t-tops so I can build the motor and have a quick street car but camaros down here were going pretty pricey. I caught a break with my tj. When I started driving it, I decided to take it offroading with some buddies who had lifted xjs. Ever since then, I have been hooked.

i bought my 1st jeep back in 97 (white 94 YJ)...ended up selling it & then later missing it & getting another. 15 years & several jeeps later, i'm on my 7th & love it. hope my son likes jeeps too. he can spot them when we are driving around & i love it when it yells out "JEEP!"

In Dec 1996 I walked into a Chrysler dealership to buy a brand new minivan.
Came out with a new 96 XJ, not sure what happened there

Been hooked ever since.

I grew up in a pretty conservative household, so we didn't do any offroad driving or anything like that... I always wanted a wrangler - they just look tough. I owned a number of different cars, but thought about a jeep every time... Even though I still had no idea what a jeep really could do...

Earlier this year, a friend bought an xj and lifted it 4", then put on 33" tires. I asked why absurd said "I will show you Saturday". We went out off road absurd was hooked. 7 months of searching and I found my 1999 white tj sport. Bought it two weeks ago!

We are going out tomorrow!

Not really sure why I am into Jeeps. I played with a Hot Wheels Jeep (believe it was a YJ) as a little kid. Just got my first vehicle, an '04 TJ Rubicon. I plan to drive a Jeep the rest of my life!

The first vehicle I ever drove out on the road was my dads friends brand new '03 Rubicon. It was 10 am and they were too smashed to drive back to the campground so 14 year old me was shuttling around two piss drunk Nam vets. I put the top down so I didn't have to smell all the PBR. The top down experience blew my mind. I was hooked.

Always liked jeeps and off roading. I bought my first jeep at age 14. An 88 beat up XJ paid $400 it was primer grey. No doors. Fuel pump was rigged to a toggle switch. But it ran and had new 33s on it. Ever since then iv been hooked. Iv owned 10 vehicles since then. 7 have been jeeps. 2 XJs a CJ7, a ZJ, a YJ, and 2 TJs. and the wranglers have always been my favorite. Nothing beats taking the top of and riding around.

40 years ago and I'm like 8yo, my Dad and I are driving at night and a jeep is coming towards us and I commented about the headlights being so close together, what is it? Dad says, "must be a jeep nothing else looks like that". I was hooked.

The first thing I drove was an old flat fender pick up when I was a kid. So I guess its in my blood. That was around 58 years ago. I've had a number of Jeeps over the years from a 43 Willies to my current 97 TJ

I used to ride bikes with friends in the desert and one of the had a CJ. I loved driving that too. Always wanted a Jeep of my own and finally got it 4yrs ago. Loving it and my two kids love it too. They make fun of their dad's "barbie car" and tell him they need to "mom up!!"
