first of all, THANK YOU FOR SERVING OUR COUNTRY!
You won't need to replace the sound bar...you can replace/upgrade the speakers INSIDE it easily. Otherwise...I can't help you on how loud it is...not knowing what the power output on the stereo is!
But one thing to keep in mind...at least here in NH where I live there is an anti-noise ordinance...$100 fine and up each repeat offense....no music, etc. can be heard 50ft away from any source or you get ticketed. Police have been cracking down on the 'cruisers' going around town at night...so this summer it was fairly quiet!
Not sure what you have for ordinances in GA...but you don't need 1000w of volume either, it will damage your eardrums.
Wait until you get back, see what it has and what new speakers will do for it-if you still aren't happy, replace the stereo system with a stronger one.
Stay safe!

You'll want to upgrade.

Quality speakers, amps, and decent head unit will make a huge difference.

I have a custom woofer box with 2 10" rockford fosgate punches, a couple of amps, crossover and whatnot that I am looking to get rid of, sounded good but I want the cargo space more.

A little quieter than a mouse fart. I would definitely recommend upgrading the head unit, dash speakers, sound bar speakers and add a good sub/amp combo. I had a 97 and blew out the dash speakers and the overheads a week after I added the amp. The stockers just couldn't take the level I wanted it at. As far as the dash speakers, in my 97 and in my 01 I just put all the sound to the rear and leave the blown dash speakers where they sit. I'm going to use the space eventually for something else... just haven't decided what. Maybe some switch panels for other electrical gadgets etc.

I live in ga. No ordinances i know of. And on my 99 it was terrible. If the top was off i didnt even know what the radio was. Now i have upgraded and im loud and proud. I dont regret it one bit.

I have 18 speakers, 6 tweeters, 8 mid range, 2 6x9's and 2 subs, it may be a little overkill, but I like my music LOUD...

Can we see a picture of that because that is quite a system you got going there.

My 2 cents on replacing speakers... I replaced all of my stock speakers. Went with Polk Audio. Couldn't be happier with sound quality with the top off and on. Oh an have a jbl sub and amp

I'll see if I can get one here in a bit, it's just 2 overhead sound bars ( 6 speakers a piece) one in front one in back 2 in dash speakers then 2 tweeters on the dash and 2 10's in the back...

Ah ic. Didn't really thing about 2 soundbars. Guess that makes sense. I was just thinking about where the eck all those speakers could have gone. But yes now I understand. And also now you have me thinking about another soundbar. Thanks. More dough out the window!

The stock stereos are something like 3 watts per channel.

I upgraded mine rather nicely for under 500 bucks. I replaced the stock speakers with kickers for about 90 bucks. That made a big difference. Then installed a decent head unit with blue tooth for about 170. That made a huge difference!

Than added a nice, flat powered sub woofer for about 200. It is perfect now.

I won't win any stereo contests, but still has a stock look but sounds really great.

Got everything at crutchfield.

My stereo was swapped for an Alpine. It didn't even have cassette and just 2 speakers.

I put in Alpine and Kicker stuff to make it sound decent. VERY happy with the results.
