I never let it get below 3/8 tank, but I pull between 20-26 depending. 26 was all highway and mostly down hill. in town im usually about 22 and on trails im about 20mpg. my 97 2.5 5speed turning 32s its all about how you drive. I don't really put my foot into it like most 4cyl owners do. the way I see it is ill get up to the speed limit not much slower, and boo hood I never get faster than 60mph. sooner or later no matter how fast your car is no matter how powerful you WILL get stuck behind 2 semis doing 20 under the limit going up a mountain pass.

That's why it's a wrangler forum, not a 18 wheeler forum, it was a simple question really, how many miles do you get before your next refill, he didn't make it to a specific tank size or model. Maybe, he was comparing for his own knowledge.

Whenever I fill up, I reset the "mile counter" and use it instead of the odometer.

I usually get about 190 to 200 miles before near-empty.

I don't care how many miles a gallon I get. I only care about running out of gas in the woods or on the beach.

Hope that helps.

Apparently you need to take a break from the forums and get some fresh air.

I'm not trying to compare my jeep to yours, or to anyone else's jeep. I asked a simple question. You're trying to get all scientific about how to compare jeeps. You don't think I know TJs have different size tanks?

Did you also not think that there's a million other variables involved when it comes to mpg? Tire size, suspensions, clean air filters, driving topless, driving door less, etc.. all can manipulate mpg in some way.. so what's the point of asking for specific details?

Hence the reason why I made it into a simple question. Every Jeep is different.. I asked a simple question that I wanted simple answers to.

So stop being a debbie downer n move on.

240-285 all stock 4.0 on 235/75/15. And I go 80 on the freeway. I drive about 30 miles to and from work half city half highway. Plus burn outs and such cause i'm crazy and why live if your not really living. Pretty soon im gonna drop my tank and se if I can cut some of that vent hose to actually fit some where close to 19 gallons. My fill ups are around 13.7 to 15.2 gallons.

Not a lot more than 200 per tank. I seem to get 14 mpg no matter where and how I drive it.

My Jeep is a commuter so I track my mileage closely. For 2 years I averaged around 250ish. Over the last few months it's fallen to the 225 range. I changed the plugs & 02 sensors, but remained about the same. For shatz & giggles I pulled the front the drive shaft see if it would improve. Jury's still out on that till I run another tank or two through. Might post those results down the road.

01 Sport, 5 speed, 3.73, 31s. Bout to hit 170k

I've never done an actual check on this but as a close approximation, I'm gonna say 220-230 miles on a tank. This will include some hills some freeway, and some city.

Good point about the variation in tank capacity. I'm a noob and though they all had 19 gallon tanks. Yes you can use actual tank capacity in gallons/measured mpg to figure theoretical maximum range.
I never have run mine empty, but at 180 miles I'm showing pretty low and figuring the way I did above, I get maybe 215-220 theoretical so that's why I wrote not a lot more than 200 per tank. (4.0 5 speed manual, 33" tires, diffies regeared to true the speedo).

I wish the range were greater on road trips, but I guess I stop every 200-ish miles to refill my coffee anyway.

Well since my gas gauge is broken... I usually go fill up at 250 miles. I've got a 19 gallon tank. 336k on the engine. I usually get 17 to the gallon, but have gotten up to 22.

196.5 on my last fillup, and I put in 14.7 gallons. Less than 13.5 mpgs that time...but I may have been driving it faster

Yep, I finally gave up on my 87 mile round trip commute to work and got a Hyundai that gets about 40 mpg. The money I save in gas costs pays for the car and I have money left over for Jeep parts. It's only a 11 gallon tank and I get 400 miles on a fillup. The Jeep with a 19 gallon tank I could make it to 300. These are mostly all highway miles though.

I get around 250 miles per tank...50/50 mix of city and highway. I have a stock 04 rubi. I'm pretty light on the throttle though.

I fill up on 200 -210 miles per tank which is about 15.5 gallons. This is none interstate but driving up to 60 mph and also a decent amount of field driving/idling checking on animals. This is a uncorrected mileage. I run a 4.0 ax 15 and 3.73 gears on 33's

Not you. Someone running 35's on 3.73 gears will not get the same mileage as someone running a stock TJ 4 banger with 4.10's on 28" stock tires. And you are semi correct with tank size. All TJ's (best of my knowledge) came with 19 gallon tanks. The filler neck thingy has to be modified on "15 gallon" tanks so they hold the entire 19 gallons. Again, going from memory, don't flame me.

Either way, Atthehop is correct. How many miles does your TJ get on a full tank of gas? is not a good question based on too many variables.

Simple Question. How many miles do "YOU" get on a tank of gas. Simple Answer. "I" get 200 miles to a tank of gas. Not how do I drive, not how big is your tank, not in your 18 wheeler he distinctly said Jeep. Seems simple to me. Way to simple to quit a forum over. Especially if you have valid info for other jeepers.
