How much do tires effect ride quality?

I am going to be in the market for a new set of tires in the next few months.

I have BFG All Terrains on my 99 TJ now(2" lift and 31") . They have been great but I bought the TJ with these tires on it.

I was wondering with the stiff (6 ply tread and 3 ply sidewall) of the bfg, How much better would the ride be with another tire?

I use my jeep as a daily driver, and off road occasionally (once a month). Would apprecaite any comments on your experience in this area.

it also depends on how much air you keep in your tires. Of course being full will make the tires pretty stiff. On my XJ I ran about 28-30psi which helped with the ride.

my bfg muds ride fine. i would assume that the bfg at's would ride even better. tire pressure makes a big difference.

Yeah I run about 28-30 lbs. in my BFG's and they are OK. Really have no complaints.

I just wondered if anyone had tried both the bfgs and others tires with 2ply sidewall and 4 ply tread.

Just would like to know if there is a tremendous difference in ride quality, before I invest in a new set.

Dont forget about bias vs. radial. Bias take a while to warm up and get flat spots when they sit for an extended period of time. I have always run radials and have no complaints. Remember big tires and big tred come with a price. this is the nature of the beast.

My first tire purchase was from the Goodyear GSA's to the BFG All Terrain, I felt almost no difference in the ride. My mud terrains are a bit stiffer, but not by much. Still a great ride. I've ridden in Jeeps with the Goodyear MTR's and find that ride to be pretty stiff, and noisy. My mud terrains are quiet, either that or my jeep is just loud.

Buncha junk I've spent hard earned money on.

Sorry I couldn't resist. It's the third grader in me coming out
