How much have you spent on your TJ?

I just bought my stock Sahara last month, but my wish list is adding up quickly and the investing (or wasting if you ask my wife) will begin on Monday.

Make me feel better by telling me how much you've sunk in your TJ.

Had mine for 2 weeks now and already around the $1500 mark and still need new tires... 33s or 35s at that so add another 1k or so in the next week! Plus much more to come...

Most of my expense has been wants/creature comforts. does have an OME lift a little bigger tires/lights/3 different tops, 3 sets of windows, bumper front and rear/spare carrier-altogether-i would guess $6500. Don't tell her I have had it for 7years.

I bought a 97 in january for 3800. I've spent about that again just fixing it to my liking. Runs like a champ. put most of the money into the brakes. I can stop quicker than most cars half my weight.

Well, you will soon come to realize a Jeep is not an investment piece. JEEP does actually stand for Just Empty Every Pocket. I am somewhere in the 9-10K after the purchase of the vehicle. Most money in Rubicon lift, tom woods drive line, SYE, axles, lockers, air system etc. Still have plans of no stopping for a while at the pace of the want list. Very understanding bride helps the situation I must say.
Good luck

I've had my 97' since Februrary and so far
Manifold $160
Both front fenders $250
31" General Grabber AT2's $750
Base Coat $85
Krylon $50
4wd Linkage $50
Bumper end caps $25

So about $1370 now , and $3900 for the Jeep itself. I had my last truck for 3 years and never put that much money into it haha The worst part is I can't wait to decide what to spend on it next

Well I just got done looking over all of my orders that I have done through Quadratec, JCWhitney and Tire Rack and I have come up with 6398.48. That is in under a year of owning my 97. Thank God my wife is not a member on this site or I would be castrated right about now.

Over $10k, and that's NOT counting the winch I was given, armor that OBM fabbed, tires from Cepek and the Metalcloaks on the way.

First 850 on top, roll bar pads and lil stuff, 800 last week on exhaust manifold, cv joint, steering box work, gas, tank skid, and sitting right now getting a 200 muffler and tail pipe. 7th week of ownership, wife's not happy. You'd think that she would know by now I am a buy it used/fix it guy, not a buy it new/make payments until eternity guy. Silly girl... lol, I've done this 4 different times since we've been married.

3k for jeep. 3k for basics (lift, tires, wheels, full maintenance and inspection) and about another 3k in the next month or so finishing the job (lockers, bumpers, fenders, tops, ect).

So 9k total invested (a steal if you ask me)

All told about $40,000.
New '03 Rubicon, $30,000
Lift and tires/rims 6,000
Shocks, and all the mods put together maybe close to 5,000 more.
That's not including repairs, replacement tires, maintenance, fuel, labor, insurance, or DMV.
But that's not an investment, it's recreation.

My mistress costs much more than the Jeep - also recreation.

My wife is a good investment - she has a job!
