Question How much is a used TJ hardtop worth?

I have a TJ hard top that I am thinking about selling... but i have no idea how much it is worth. It was for my 2002 jeep wrangler sahara. It is a tan/beige color... I always kept it indoors when it was not in use... I used it for two seasons and there was only one other person who owned it before me... It has a working rear wiper blade and is in good condtion if not great!

If anyone has any helpful, honest information for me it would be greatly apprecieated.

Thank you.

Well to give you an idea, I just sold mine for $900 and it was old, faded, and had a few very very small cracks. No rear wiper etc. I bought it for $500, and sold it 3 days later for $900. If yours is in as good a shape as you seem to be describing it to be, I would think you could get $1200 easy if you stay firm on that price. Especially if you live somewhere that it snows. Use craigslist or even post it up for sale in the classified here on WF.

I only paid $500.00 for mine, and it was like brand new. But I got lucky. $900.00 to $1,100.00 should be good price.

Around $900.00 if you are in no hurry to sell it. but it seems like the black ones sell faster.

I would think that it would sell fast for 900 maybe even 1100, start a little high and work it down to what you want. You will be happy to get what you want and the buyer will jump and be happy that he got a little better deal than he thought.

No way. It's worth $100 at most and I'll be up to pick it up . I sometimes wish I had a hard top in the winter. Most prices I've seen on CL have been around but a little under 1k.

Why are you selling though? They are great for the winter.

I'll sell it to you for $500 if you come pick it up by the end of the month... the hardtop is stored in Pittstown, NJ 08867

I am selling it because unfortunately I totaled my jeep on Dec. 4th, 2010. I hit black ice traveling about 50-55mph the jeep spun out and flipped multiple times landing upside down. The soft top was still on my jeep at the time, I was procrastinating putting the hard top on for the winter. All I am left with is my hardtop : ( I need the money to put towards another car.

The hardtop was amazing for the winter, I loved it! I miss my jeep... it's a terrible feeling to loose a wrangler

Oh man the timing is horrible on this. I'm looking at major repair costs right now on my rear axle so I'm sure that'll take all my budget. A week and a half ago, I'd take it regardless of the color. really though, unless you are paying for storage or are really in need of cash, hold on until you get a fair price. Who knows, you might get another TJ and it only has a hardtop.

Best of luck to you and sorry about your accident.

I live in GA so we don't have the cold some of you do, but there was a "like new" black hardtop for sale recently on CL here for $500 and it lasted about a week. Now a few months ago when the weather was cold you could get close to 1K for one. I bought my last one in the fall for $400, sold it late winter for $650 since I knew warm weather was on the way and I didn't want to fool with storing it.
If it isn't in your way, wait until the weather turns cold and nasty and you can get double what you can in the nice warm weather (at least that it the way it is around here)

OK I understand... thought I'd just put it out there. I'm not paying for storage but am in need of cash unfortunately. Well whenever you're done with repairs and can fit it into your budget send me an email to see if it's still available... I've been trying to get rid of it for a couple months now I'm not having much luck

Thanks for the advice... If I don't sell it within this next month I will hold onto it until the fall/beginning of winter.

Sorry to hear about that - I hope you were OK with all of that. A Jeep can be replaced, you can't. Best of luck to you.

I agree with the other posters - you will get more for it when it's getting cold in the late fall - but if you need cash - price it to sell.

If its in mint shape its worth at least 900-1100 for tan/spice, and 1000-1200 for black.

Sorry to hear about your loss too. It's the worst feeling wrecking somthing. I wrecked my 2006 R6 Streetbike and was so mad about it until I realized I was lucky to be alive.

What kind of vehicle are you looking at buying?

I know I am very lucky to be here today... I was ejected through my rear window, and flew about 40 ft from the vehicle, across the road, under a guard rail and down a ravine... I suffered many injuries but am doing very well and am back to work almost full time again.

Right now I am in the process of buying a 95' Buick Roadmaster...

Was with a friend when he layed down his r1 guy backed out of his driveway infront of us and the bike pitched and threw him ontop of a fire hydrant.
Knarly story dude. Getting ejected out the back... That's one for the grand kids.

I'm selling mine to a Captain in my squadron for $100 as soon as I get a soft top. I hate hard tops.

I just sold my tan hard top for $650 on CL. It sold in one day and I had three calls on it within 24 hours. It was in good overall condition, but not great. I may have sold it little too cheap, but it's not taking up space in my garage anymore.

I would think a Black hard top would sell faster and for more money ?
Here in central Indiana 650/600 is about average .

I was thinking about buying one but I store my Wrangler in the winter .

Hello all,

I got some useful information from these postings on the value of a hard top. However, I have a 2004 Unlimited (bigger hardtop). What would be a fair price for me to pay for one of these?

Thank you!
