If you can, take the VIN number to a jeep dealership and see if someone will look up the OFFICIAL jeep repair/service record! ANYTIME a jeep is worked on at a dealership it is logged into the computer records and any dealership can verify it. You might find out if there were major repairs or warranty jobs on it, if it was serviced on a regular schedule, anything that was done while it was on warranty...etc.
I learned a LOT about my rubicon that way-when I went in for warranty repair (like the heat fan switch resistor had already been replaced, etc.) so I knew what to keep an eye on. If I had known about the service records I would have found out my 2000 sahara had water in the axles before I got them-proven it was possibly a 'flood' jeep! Too late for that...
