How water resistant are the seat and carpet?

I am a new jeep owner with several questions. I have a 2006 sport. I have heard people talk about the seats and interior being water resistant and I talked to someone at a dealership that said they remove the seats and pressure wash them to make them look new. Are the seats really that resistant? How resistant are the carpets?
Thanks to all replies received!!

I think they meant that they remove the seats and carpet and pressure wash the inside of the jeep to make it look new.

The seats and carpet aren't water resistant at all. Best thing the dealer could do would be to spray on some water repellent or put water repellent seat covers on...

The carpet doesn't repel any water either. If it gets wet, best to take it out and dry it in the sun.

they are fine when they get wet, the carpet dries, and so does the seats. there's no harm in getting them wet.

... why, did you wet yourself on a tough trail? We've all done it, don't be embarrassed! The seats dry quickly, as does the carpet, but be sure to give them fresh air!! (Leave the windows open/top off if it's not raining, and consider spraying a little lysol under the carpet to prevent any moldy buildup around the french fries and KFC chicken crusties that have made their way under the seats.) I wash mine without the top on and am not too concerned even with heavy overspray.
