i feel stupid!!! Please help.

i see all the jeeps around my town with the tire carrier cover off(so you can see the tire) so i pulled the cover up, took off the two top lug nuts on it then on the third spot i thought it was a third lug nut but it was some weird thing, what is this? i thought it was a cap so i pulled on it, nothing, i tried pulling the tire but wouldnt come off. so what is this thing. I know i have to take the tire off to get the cover off. I feel real dumb cause of this but any help would be great.

Thanks EJ

That sir is your wheel lock. You need the matching key to remove it the right way.

as stated above check your glove box and console for a weird looking socket. If you dont have one Id say this is a perfect application for some large vise grips.

vise grips, or you could go the route of contacting the people that you bought it from to see if they still have it. I dont think you could identify the manufacturer, and then the right key.

go to a tire/wheel shop. They have special sockets that will remove the locks without doing damage. They charged me like $20 to do all the wheels.

The vice grips might work if the lugs stick out of the rim...if their recessed then you better off getting to the tire shop.

I had one on my spare tire when I bought my jeep also. I just took it to a local tire shop and they took it off for free. mine was round with a star shape key cut into it and they had a key for a lugnut like that but not the exact one so they just pound it on and used there impact gun to brake it loose. I wouldnt use a vise grip if you have nice wheels just because there is good chance that you might slip and and hit/scrach a wheel with the vise grips.

Check glovebox or under the passenger seat by the jack - that's where I keep mine.
