I love my Wife!!

Here is a small story for you guys and want everyone to give if they have a wife/girlfriend that is understanding.

Bought my Jeep last March. I told her I want a lift, bigger tires, new top, wheels, and a winch. She told me that she don't want me to do any of these things because she likes it the way it is and just said no. Recently she compromised and let me install a lift if I put nerf bars on. So one down. Now she is letting me put some offset wheels on (I let her pick them out). Im kinda scared because I feel like she is going to come up and want something big now, but it's great that is is letting me do this without much of a fuss.

Why would you even ask her permission to upgrade your rig? I just purchase parts and when UPS delivers them my wife drags the boxes inside my pad. Over the past two weeks I've purchased BDS coils, UCF T-Case skid, and Bilstein shocks without even one negative comment from the wife. Guess I never realized how lucky I truly am.

I should say asking for permission, but I've bought some big stuff before without telling her about it and she get's pissed when I do that, so I let her know/ask her first.. Happy wife=less drama..

I agree wit the the happy wife happy life but to a degree if you want to do something to "YOUR RIG" and ur wife says I like it the way it is thts beside the point it ur rig and u want to do stuff to it ur wife shouldn't really have a say or be mad about it if the income is there but if ur buying things and there is no money then understandable

Mine has always encouraged me to spend money on the upgrades.... But then, she's been promised a new beetle tdi.. My jeep.,, even with all the money spent on upgrades etc, still costs way less than some big useless barge, or some snappy little European roadster, way less.. Money left over from not buying that new roadster or a very expensive barge every few years gets spent on our house, and the antiques we furnish it with.. Soooo, I can easily get what I need /want for my jeep !!

Shrekfx - I get where your coming from - definitely easier to have a good relationship with proper communication. I remember I went out and bought a 51 inch big screen TV in the early 90s and my wife - OMG - I thought she was gonna kill me for real. Of course money was a lot tighter then. Now that our incomes are better - my wife just chucks the UPS packages in the garage and rolls her eyes lol.

My wife talked me into 33's instead of 31's... She said "If you're gonna do it, then DO IT!"

S'pose that's pretty lucky right there!

About a week ago I went for a little ride to Moon Rocks, Nevada. Took my son, we took the long route, no highway, just back roads and a powerline road...took about 2 hours longer to get there. We had a great day testing out the new locker on the rocks. Got back at night and the wife wants to know if I broke anything..(its my daily driver) she "voiced her concern" that if I break my jeep that I am walking to work until I can get it fixed... (i am thinking that playtime is over for a little while)
then she asks if I have to build up this jeep up or can I buy another one and build it so I am not tearing up my main means of transportation. I....(giggling like a little kid on the inside) simply state, "that would work...that's a good idea" give her a kiss on the cheek and started searching craigslist while she finished cooking dinner....I really really love that woman

Sure he could do whatever he wants to the Jeep without asking, but he has his priorities straight. His wife comes first and then the Jeep. People would be a lot better off if they were less selfish and understood marriage is a compromise. If you put the wife first everything else will fall into place. I always talk to my wife before I buy something for the Jeep if it is over a couple hundred dollars. She has never said no, but appreciates that I would ask. She knows she is #1. ShrekFX I am behind you 100% and if others did the same the world would be a better place.

Mines almost the same as Big Cole with the exception of a comment of "well here's your daily Box from UPS" But i have the excuse that "Honey I ship out as much as I buy " ( I'm addicted to eBay ) both buying and selling stuff

Someone once said that 90% of a man's misery or happiness comes in the one decision of who they marry. I would have to agree and boy did I make the right choice.

If I bought that for my wife, I'd get to do what I want with the Jeep also! However, it's a balance......we've got 3 kids, two of which are currently in college, so any purchase....hers or mine, gets discussed. My wife currently wants a new Camaro....I told her, "just say "when"" and I'll get it for you, but she knows we both have bigger priorities at the moment. I'm cool with my Jeep "as is" for now, but have big plans for it later!

Only two kids in college and you got that smart. I'd say your way ahead of the curve!
