Do you even have the soft top bolted to the roll cage?

mark align the rails with the pegs on your roll bar. stick'em in extend the top across the top of the jeep. undo the metal links stick'em in the holes located in your window rail. and then take the plastic's that are on the bottom (lining) of your soft top closest to the tub and feed the into the lip. bam! you got a top. good luck let us know if you have any questions.

I have the soft top with no instructions and a jeep that used to have a hard top on it and thats it. I took it out of my truck looked at the pieces of metal then the awkward plastic pieces that go on the doors and i got confused as hell and went hunting on the web

EDIT: I'll be right back i am going to play a bit more and come back with more questions

This is how the soft top hardware bolts up to the roll cage. There is a metal bracket that follows the contour of the roll bar. You can see my bracket and soft top frame here.

ok the two plastic pieces are the door surrounds. they screw onto the roll bar around the driver and passenger side. now this is a factory top so I'm guessing that the fabric and plastics are on the skeleton now? if so just follow the instructions I gave before. by putting the metal bars on the jeep (with the U side facing down) put the rail ends into the plastic settings. unfold the top onto the top of your roll bars and go from there.

Ok I have those door surrounds but i have these screws that go into them do they go in from the top or bottom because if they go in from the bottom i can't get them not to stick out like 3 inches and if they go in from the top they won't screw in

They go in from the top and they will screw in. You just need to align the holes properly. Make sure they are pushed forward all the way. They will go.

they go in from the top, you kinda have to wiggle them around to get them to line up and go in.

well as it turns out I don't have the piece that bolts to the roll bar i guess the guy didn't realize it was part of the soft top which basically means i am SOL and i will just pray to MechaShiva that it doesn't rain that hard

which piece are you talking about. are you talking about the piece for the door surrounds or the pice that slides into the ends of the soft top frame? If you have the peices that slide into the frame you should be ok with the rain as long as you have part of your top on to cover. sorry I couldn't help you further. let us know the outcome if you figure it out.
