About 60 miles, I don't go far from home, the college kids fuel fund is a little low at all times.

Drove from MD to MO and back with a front ds with bad u-joints and no heat in January. Felt like I was riding in a small propeller driven airplane. My wife chose to fly back from MO and made me drive it back by myself.

This isnt me but I came across this article and it's a great read. This guy drove from Alaska to the tip of South America in his TJ. The pictures in his blog are amazing. An adventure begins | The road chose me

Three weeks ago...from Statham, Georgia to Manitou Springs, Colorado...round trip. Started on a Friday at 5am est and ended Saturday at 4:30pm mst (that's roughly 25 hours). Stayed for a day and a half then hit the road back...took about 27 hours thanks to construction traffic in St. Louis and Atlanta. All in all it was around 2850 miles. Jeep did great the whole time though it ran a little hot all the way through Kansas (it was 104 degree day). Great thread, I've enjoyed reading everyone's stories!

Am going to NOLA, Houston, and San Antonio next week till the end of May and the total will be 2066 miles round trip in the Jeep with 3 kids.

Son was in Basic at Lawton, OK last year and we went there twice while he was in basic (graduation and Thanksgiving) to be with him in the Jeep, just under 1000 miles round trip, twice for 2000.

We have a bumper rack for luggage and just enjoy the drive. I do try to stay off most interstate roads and "take a back road" cause we love seeing the country. Leave the safari top on but all windows are out.

Girls home school BB team also went to Nationals this year (and won the National Title in their division!!!) and we traveled 600 miles one way with all our assorted gear for that.

I pretty much go everywhere in the Jeep. No better way to see the country, IMO, than windows and doors off and taking it all in.

Going through the Cumberland Gap tunnel. Also went up on the top of the Mountain and did the look see and hang over the side:

Sometimes the dogs go too:
Hey I live there at the tunnel. I bought my TJ one day and drove 1000 miles round trip the next.

I just did a trip from Gainesville, FL to Hiawassee, GA about 900 miles round trip with another 250 miles riding around in the mountains of NC and GA. By the time I got back I was tired of pulling over for gas. Averaging about 15 on the highway and 13 in the mountains makes for lots of stops. I did realize that the a/c has to be on recirc to stop the top from flapping and it is quieter with the windows down on the interstate.

Farthest I drove my jeep was 800 miles round trip from south eastern michigan to Silver Lake sand dunes in north western michigan. pulling a trailer with a four-wheeler and tons of other crap.

I helped a friend drive one of his 2 vehicles when he moved from south eastern michigan to near Virginia Beach, VA. in his 1994 4 banger YJ, about 1000miles of pure hell. I was December; No carpet, drain plugs pulled, broken heater, and 3 snow storms (that part was fun but not for him in his car that sat 4 inches off the ground.) Should have only taken us 9 hours, it actually took 19. With the snow and the jeep only being able to do 65mph at best.
The silver car he drove the whole way, the YJ I drove the whole way.

Farthest I drove was from Springfield,MA (Western Mass on the state line with CT) to Newport, VT (One of the last town's before you head into Canada off 91N).

I think it was like 230 miles one way and 300 miles on the way back because I felt like taking the scenic route. The scenic route for me was waiting for the Mrs. to fall asleep and jump off the highway to find a trail or somewhere to get the jeep dirty. When I woke her up I was on what I thought was a trail (ended up being a mile long driveway ) the look on her face when I started screaming when I was hitting the first mud patch I found..... PRICELESS!
After getting my ass chewed for being awesome I had to take her out to dinner, but when she jumped out of the Jeep she got mud all over her clothes. So I did what any good man should I started laughing what little ass I had left off until I saw the face of death looking back at me. Spent the whole dinner fearing that I was going to meet Jesus but luckily there was a mall she had never been to near the restaurant so I took her there to check it out..... 2 hours of shopping later I was finally on my way home. Now you would think the lesson was learned?? Nope she still falls asleep on Jeep rides and I still find ways to get her dirty! One day I'll learn her or be a homicide statistic either way I'll do it by off roading.

2800 miles round trip, Phoenix to Seattle and back in a 1979 CJ-7. Drove straight through both ways with a buddy of mine. Glad we upgraded the tunes to overcome the godawful flapping of the soft top.

Not the longest trip, but SO boring! The weekend before moving to FL (driving), we did Pittsburgh --> Lapeer, MI (one day, not a bad trip), Lapeer --> Glen Arbor, MI (next day, SO boring but with a beautiful ending), and back in one day. Did that in her car - would've been better in the TJ! I hope the diagonal of MI was more enjoyable for you! (Go Wings!)
