I would like to put stronger trans in

I have a 97 TJ with the 4 cyc and manual trans in it.
I heard this is a week trans and I want to put a snow plow on it.
I want to keep the engine because I have spent money on it.
So does any body know of a manual trans that is strong that I could put in.
Thanks
JimL

Weak as will break or weak as in torque? You may want to research gearing options for either your differentials or transfer case.

I'd run the existing AX-5 transmission, making sure it is lubed with the right GL-4 75W-90 gear lube. If it craps out, I'd install another AX-5 because they are dirt cheap to buy. Far cheaper and easier than trying to adapt a stronger transmision.

You can do an AX15 swap. You will need a dakota bell housing and a few other things. Never done it myself so I cant tell you exactly what you will need but its definitely been done before..

It's not all that easy, you have to get into the transmission because the AX-15's input and output shafts would have to be swapped.

Yeah its sounds to be a little on the difficult side. He did ask for a stronger trans and that would be a viable option if he is willing to do the work..
