Brice, you are looking at one of the easier swaps for the jeep but there is still a lot of work that goes into it. Most of which you should probably be able to get out of the donor vehicle the engine is coming from.

You are going to have to weld in different motor mounts, a new radiator, and computer are the major things that will be different for you. There are various other, but if you get a complete I6 with all of the brackets and accessories on it already then that takes care of most of the work.

You'll also need the tranny for the 6. I'm assuming you have the ax5 when I say this. The ax5 is a marginal transmission behind the 4 and won't even bolt up to the 6. Then you'll either need to swap the t-case or change the input shaft on your current one to mate up with the transmission. Hmmm, did anyone mention exhaust as well? Unless you're really good with a wrench, I suggest sell what you have and buy a jeep with the 4.0. If you're dead set on doing a swap, find a donor that has all the running gear as well as the above mentioned brackets and accessories. Good luck.

I agree with willness. Sell what you've got and buy the 6. If not.... go V8. Chevy swaps are cheap(in comparison) and you get a better bang for your buck. I have thought this over pretty hard cause I have a 4. Which I originally bought to swap in a V8. That project starts after winter is over.

I'm not really sure if a Chevy swap is cheap in comparison. You'll be looking at the engine, motor mounts, radiator, exhaust, tranny, t-case, driveshafts, axles, accessories, possible fuel delivery issues (depending if you inject or carb), then the fun part of getting all the wiring correct. I may have overlooked a few things too. Less expensive, no. More fun after, oh yeah!

I am doing the 2.5 to 4.0 right now. If your set on doing it i would not do the V8, i had the chance to but my research told me i would have to put different axles in and change my dash wiring harness, so far i did a little mod to the harness. i would have the donor right next to you as it would be easier, i do not and its very hard finding parts. i bought my jeep in the process of the swap which is i had to do the whole thing and still am.
my list is, Another engine 4.0, 94 cherokee 106,xxx-300
new t-case-150
PCM-80
drive shafts front and back-100
bolts-??
all i can think of, what i need to buy still:
clutch kit
exhaust
radiator
all i can think of. im hoping the transmission i was givin works.
there much more i bought and need...

thats just an idea of what im going through.

have alot of 4 cyl parts and another 6 cyl i didnt use.
