Identify this part, part I.

Jeep Wrangler, TJ Sahara, 2000, i6 engine, 140k miles.

I was working on the air intake system and the plastic piece connected from the engine case to the air intake hose snapped. I've managed to get the short connecting hose back on, hopefully long enOugh to get ms the five miles to autozone. When I get there, what part do I ask for? I can't find a reference to this in the Haynes manual. It must be some kind of return exhaust hose, but I'm not sure.

Also if anyone knows how to remove the old plastic piece and install the new one I'd appreciate it. Doesn't appear to screw in, might be some kind of snap in piece.

Thanks!

It's the CCV (closed crankcase ventilation) fixed orfice. It meters the amount of vapors coming out of the engine and mixes it with fresh air back into the combustion chamber to be burnt off, it's all part of your emission control system. I do believe you will have to go to the dealer for this part. It just kinda pops into the rubber grommet but when they get old all the heat/oil from the engine cause them to get hard and brittle and stiff such as yours, getting it apart might be very difficult to say the least, when you get the new part get the grommet as well, it will more than likely NOT come out in one piece, be careful not to drop anything into the valve cover.

You can get that at any auto store. I just replaced mine and the grauments as well. Keeps the oil from leaking on top as well. All you will need is a regular flat screwdriver. Its about a $4 part. Takes 5 minutes. Put the graument onto the plastic piece, then firmly place it in. Might have to get one side in, then sort of twist, like putting a tire on a bicycle.

I thought the ccv is the grey one on the rear of the valve cover , the photo appears to be the front of the valve cover which is just an elbow for the hose to attach to

I don't know the eact name, all I know is that when I go to O'reilly's I just tell them the front and rear PCVs. The front is slightly differnt from the back. The back has a tiny hole and the front is much larger. The rear is PCV elbow, part number 47057, HELP! (Dorman) brand.

Any one at the counter will be able to get him the correct one for the front. I already threw the packaging to the front one away.
