So, I'm just wondering what the consensus on the best possible lift for a TJ is? What's your opinion?

id use either currie or rokmen arms..

depending on tire size.. id use tube fenders and a 2.5'' OME lift for 33s, + a 1.25'' body lift to add 35s

So how exactly do you go about making your own? Just purchasing parts as you need them? Or is there more to it? I honestly have no idea here, so the more in depth you can explain it, the better. ha ha

piece it together using quality parts is what im guessing he meant..

jks trackbars, ome coils/shocks, currie/rokmen control arms, either antirock swaybars or jks discos front and adjustable endlinks rear.. id assume he'd say something along those lines

clayton has nice stuff too.. but depending one tire size and the kind of wheeling you do, depends on the kind of lift you want..

im sticking with short arms, a low COG build.. using tube fenders and a short lift.. around 2-2.5'' running 33s until i need new tires, then regear and 35s

Id keep the 2" but switch over to ome, replace fenders with metalcloack overlines and full corners. Regear and throw on 35's.

...and 6" mc flares. Low, steet legal, and ferocious.

Or nix the fenders and go with a currie 4" sa.

I don't like the arched but the overlines painted to match look pretty sharp.

Depends on what you're going to use it for. But, if I was going to play in the rocks, I would hire myself to make a copy of the Rock Yacht with a few improvements.

I would do a 3 inch body lift and 2 inch pucks and then pull out your bumpstops for super flex.

Actually I would look into full traction I have heard they are pretty sweet. for a budget lift I would go with zone.

If price wasnt an issue, Id probably take it down to my friend's fab shop and have them build it custom.

Clayton 4" LA w/ or W/out the Stretch Kit...

They have some of the best customer service and a great warranty, they actually stand behind.

I'll probably go with the AEV torque arm, long arm setup with custom coil overs. It will have better street manners compared to a DT 4 link setup. They have the drop trackbar bracket and drop pitman arm to reduce the steering angles in the front. If you just play in the rocks, you can't beat a quality made DT4. Genright makes some bad ass kits for coil overs and they have a DT4 setup if you can't custom build it yourself. If you can weld, the weld in kits are the best option, but you could probably do it cheaper if you buy the joints and brackets and make your own arms. Even cheaper yet would be to make it from scratch, but then you better have some decent metal working skills.
