Ignition / ignition switch

I have a 98 Wrangler and one day it wouldn't start. So I took apart the dash and steering column and found the ignition switch itself was broken, I removed it and now basically start my jeep with a screwdriver. This is not my picture, but this is exactly what I found when I took it off:

I am having a hard time finding a replacement steering column at a salvage yard, so my question is this: what year jeeps and types of steering columns (tilt wheel vs no tilt wheel, at vs mt) would be suitable for getting what I need to work with a 98? Also what specific part(s) can I order if I can't find a steering column, a new ignition switch and lock? I am not sure if there is some intermediate part there that would not be included in the above two. Thanks.

What exactly is broke? The switch? That is about $35 at most auto parts stores. The picture shown is only missing the switch.
The lock cylinder is also replaceable. Or is your problem something else?

EDIT: just noticed the date on the original post. Not sure whats up with this one.

ignition actuator

It looks like you broke the ignition actuator. Mopar (Jeep) only sells the entire column but this company supplies the inner component you need.
They also have free instructional pages and a description of how to rebuild the lower portion of a Jeep (or Dodge) steering column. The removal of the lock cylinder is also included. They are broken down into step by step detailed instructions on the website. Although the example is for a 1998 Jeep Cherokee but the column is identical to yours:
Rebuild Steering Column, Repair Ignition, Replace Ignition Gear, Loose Tilt Column, Steering Column Parts: Stolen & Recovered-Steering Column and Ignition Parts and Instructions

I hope these instructions help you. If you need the parts to repair this column simply order it online through the links attached.
