ignition locked without key in it

i put my key into my 2003 wrangler and locked it into the ignition (without turning the vehicle on) and my key was pulled out of the ignition ignition. i went to put the key back in and it would not fit. it looks like the ignition key slot is vertical and the ingnition key lock is vertical. any ideas on how i could fix this?? thanks

Try turning the steering wheel at the same time as turning the ignition switch. Might take a couple tries...
