Ignition switch, anti-theft, new idea

Hey guys, I'm interested in putting in a switch that must be activated in order to start my jeep. I have decided that I want a momentary switch (normally open) like a push button switch so I won't have to remember to turn it off after I've started the keep. I was siting in my jeep trying to decide where to put it and I think a good place would be in the door sill, just reach left hand down and press the button while turning the key, then release the button after the engine is started. Then...I had an idea that it would be really cool if I could make the the turn signal or some other already existing switch allow for the engine to start. I'm thinking something like put on left turn signal and then turn key then turn signal off. This accomplishes the "momentary" because I don't think ie ever parked a car with the run signal still on so it's not like I'd have to remember to turn it off to disable ignition.

Any other good ideas? Head light switch? Keep in mind it would have to be on the left side since my right hand will be turning the key. I drive a stick so it can't be foot operated either.

Where do I find the ignition wire so I can tap into it to make it switched?

Ok, so you want theft protection, but do you really want the inconvenience to push a button every time you need to start it ( ei. stalling at a light or on a tricky obstacle ). I think a fuel pump shutoff switch would do the trick without any safety drawbacks .

what i have is a toggle switch under the dash-$5 maybe, which is in line with the ignition. with it off, you can crank it all you want but it wont start

Got it done, wired a momentary push button from radio shack into the clutch safety switch. I know that it can be easily bypassed using fuse #20 but it can be defeated in many different ways so its just a simple deterrent.

Cost: $3.00
Time: 20 minutes
Difficulty: easy
