Lol.
Buddy of mine did this in high school.

His car burned a bit of oil, so he went to refill. For what every reason, he added like 3 quarts instead of 1, & proceeded to start it. Oil everywhere.
Drained it in the school parking lot, and put fresh stuff in.
Forgot to tighten oil drain plug. (finger tight only).
Drive to mall...huge puddle under car. Lol.

First time I took my doors off I dropped one and put a nice huge gouge in it.. I'd had the jeep for 3 days only.

Pulled into my parents driveway with my 67 Mustang GT (it was only a year old so this was a long time ago) left it running in neutral, there was a road going down hill in front of their house. Ran in to get something, looked out the front window and could see headlights down the hill, said "hey ma some idiot ran in the ditch". Went outside and my Mustang was gone, guess who the "idiot" was.

Mine wasn’t a jeep but I was changing oil in one of our Semi-Trucks and was in a hurry. I forgot to put the drain plug in and because it was dark I didn’t see it until I jumped off of the tire and landed in it falling on my @$$. A 3406b caterpillar holds ten gallons and I dumped it all in there. On top of that I live in a little small town and I bought every bag of kitty litter in that town and it wasn’t enough. Thank god I still had another ten gallons of oil that was slated for another one of the trucks cause it was late on a Sunday.

Was cleaning out my 1-month-old '00 Dodge Durango. When done, pulled back into the garage. LEFT THE BACK HATCH OPEN and the garage caught the rear wiper and bent it to hell where it mounts into the hatch. Was reminded of my stupidity for the next 7 years every time I saw it, all rusted and bent.

Just one of many I've done over the years... I had an old Yamaha dirt bike with a two cycle engine that wouldn't fire off. To check for spark, I pulled the spark plug out, put it in the boot on the end of the plug wire and held it to the cylinder head. Straddling the bike, I kicked it over. Apparently, I was grounded better than the spark plug was. The involuntary movements I made from the jolt caused me to snatch the plug wire right out of the coil.

Had a '93 mustang that I was installing aluminum heads on. I went to torque down the intake bolts using the factory torque specs and heard a pop. I realized real quick that I had cracked the aluminum on the head. Lesson learned to always verify the torque specs on different material.

18 years old, installing a K&N FIPK on my '91 Toyota pickup. I was supposed to unhook an air sensor to plug it into the K&N. Instead of unplugging the male from the female sensor, I unscrewed the port from whatever it was on, pulled it out and realized that was the wrong move. The truck wouldn't start, had it towed to a shop and replaced the mass air flow sensor assembly.

I was not working on the Jeep but not too long ago I was changing oil on the wife's car. Ran it up onto the ramps grabbed the wrench and drain pan and promptly drained the transmission fluid. (synthetic ) Damn, I got turned around crawling in under the front of the car left / right mixed up or what ??? I don't know, so it was down to the parts store for 25 bucks worth of ATF. Funny now but not at the time.

Not a jeep, but 1980 chevy k20. I prepped and painted a goodmark cowl induction hood, put it on and tried to close the lid. Yep, forgot to lube the hinges for the hood. It looks just like the one I took off with that beautiful crease just ahead of the hinge.

as for my jeep, i broke the little orange clip inside the plug that you have to remove to take the hardtop off on day 1 of ownership.

also found out the hard way that the snorkel on a kubota 1100 side-by-side is just for looks.
Haha, I work oh uh-60 as well. Always afraid I'm gonna drop my Gerber on the stabilator.
But for my jeep reached back to the back while leaning over the running engine and got two fingers stuck in the belt. Felt like an idiot for a while, but I'll never do that again :P

Yep, been there done that. It didn't startle me as much as when mom came down to my room with the cattle prod to get my ars out of bed to go haying at 4 in the morning after coming in at 2. For some reason that really sticks in my head.

Drove my jeep into the garage. Installed a 2.5" body lift, then could then not drive it out. After a a few beers and many jokes at my expense, a good friend took me aside and said "try letting the air out of your tires" It worked perfectly.

wow that must be a low garage! I drove into a parking garage a few days ago and forgot that I had my Firestik on. BANG BANG BANG BANG! best part was the most drop dead gorgeous woman I have ever seen in my life was driving in behind me, turned out my appointment was with her!

I had noticed my 350z had a slight hood alignment issue, but didnt think much of it. finally when someone at work pointed it out I decided to pop the hood, only to find my battery cover had been sitting between my intake manifold and my hood for weeks!

In an attempt to clean the snow of my back (soft) window, I decided instead of going outside the Jeep and cleaning it with the snow scraper, I would tap the inside of the window to shake it off.

I quickly found out how brittle the back window gets when cold.... Put a huge hole right through it and cracked everywhere.

I did the same thing, but thought I would do it carefully with a ball joint press.....so dumb
And just like clarkkent I still have an old cap in it's place.

I had my shovel no big deal, after shoveling my way out got it cleared, drove off pretty happy. What the hell is that smell????? Turns out i had laid in what i think is a bunch of turkey sh*t and it was all over my uniform. Well needless to say i called and canceled the appointment cause my other clean uniform was still in the wash.

I ordered a set of floorboards for an ’84 Honda Goldwing that I owned. When they came in I spent a Saturday afternoon installing them, dang they looked good. I decided I had better take it for a ride and get use to them before my wife and I went for a ride on Sunday. I pulled out of my driveway and proceeded to a stop sign down the street. I stopped at the intersection and sat there for a moment. The bike started leaning to the left so I pressed down harder with my left foot. The bike kept leaning. Too late, I crawled out from under the bike, looked around and made sure no one saw what happened, picked up the bike and continued on down the road. From then on I was really careful to put my feet on the ground at a stop. Lesson learned, just because feet are flat does not mean they are on the ground. I felt like the guy on “Laugh In” on his tricycle. I am use to doing stupid stuff; I just really hate it when there are witnesses.
