It may prove reparable, but my baby was hit hard by a distracted driver speeding on the interstate in the wee hours. Not even two months since I bought her.
Glad you are okay, that stinks about your Jeep :atomic:
As long as the frame is good, everything else is replaceable. I had someone pull out infront of me a few months back and my rig ended up in the shop for a month and a half. If all works out, you might be able to get some mods done you've been thinking about.
Took much longer than I expected to get things finalized, but it's not going to be totaled. Front end is in need of a lot of work, it'll be a couple of weeks. In the meantime my old bicycle is getting a good workout.
I feel your pain, a 6 point buck did a number on mine yesterday morning on the ride to work. Now I am stuck driving my wife's Rav 4 and it sucks. Miss my baby badly.
Will be four weeks on Saturday. I thought it would be done this week, but as of an hour ago it came back from alignment and they noticed it's stuck in four-wheel-drive. So, probably another evening without it, thank goodness the weather is staying warm a little while longer.
Such aggravation. Need a Wrangler for when my Wrangler is unavailable, and another Wrangler just in case.
Congrats on bringing the Rubi back from the near dead! I almost lost my '06 last year, but we bought her back and saved her. Sad Day: Resurrected: And I bought a spare to drive while it was down....win / win !!
Amazing, I'd have figured that would be totaled for sure. Even with nearly all the damage up front in mine it came uncomfortably close.
Wish I'd been smarter with money over the years, I'd have definitely picked up another Wrangler this past month. So beautiful all month long, was sheer torture waiting for mine to get fixed.
Oh yeah, it was completely totaled by the insurance company. My son luckily walked away with just a few stitches in his chin. A big delivery truck turned in front of him at about 40mph. He started to slide under the side of the truck head one. The roll cage stopped the top of the Jeep from being sheared off.
The frame was perfectly straight and all the damage was above the shock towers etc.. The body tub just took the worst of it. The motor and trans wasn't shoved around at all. All the sheet metal was replaced with nice junk yard donors and we put her back together. It only had 13,000 miles on it when it was hit last year.
It came out great and is a ton of fun to drive again.
Probably not, not ready to tempt fate just yet. Nearly had another distracted driver hit me yesterday, not feeling the need to put it in harm's way off-road too.
Excellent, congrats. Note to self: get my front bumper replaced soon with something that can deflect large deer.
