In the market seeking advice

I have another thread going in the YJ section but I probably need to ask here as well...looking at buying a used Wrangler and its going to be a YJ or TJ so I need to know the things to be on the lookout for. Have some good stuff already mentioned in the other thread but figure there may be a few things different (problem wise) with the TJ vs the YJ models.

TIA

Robert

Well for starters, the suspension was upgraded in the TJ from the YJ for a better ride. That's off the top of my head.

x2. The TJ has coil springs which ride better than the YJ's leaf springs. I decided on a TJ because I liked the interior better and preferred the coil springs.

Good luck in your search. I'm sure you'll be happy with either. After all...it's a Jeep!

I see you are in fla. Make sure the jeep is from fla or does not have rust on the frame. Check the frame by the skid plate in the center of the jeep. This is the first spot to rust. repair is expensive. Pull the carpet ot the drivers and pass floor to look for rust. If you can get a 4.0. Look for 1997 - 2004 TJ. they changed the tj in 03. new mirrors and a few other upgrades. Loof for signs of abuse. Stay away from lifted wranglers if you don't know what you are looking for. Stay away from snorkles. People think they are submarines. Craw under it and look for signs for off roading. It is hard to hide. What do you want to do with it?

Thanks! all good info to keep in mind...I have no aspirations to do any serious off roading I just want something to run around in that offers me options that are totally unavailable in a Vette ....a good daily driver for starters.....the option to go off road is always nice too . As for modifications...probably nothing major as I am already down that road with one of the Vettes but who knows
