Thought I would post up a couple pics of new JCR Crusader stubby front bumper and a new Engo E10000S winch. I think it turned out pretty nice! I also had the bumper drilled to install my flat tow brackets. Coated it with Duplicolor self-etching primer and Duplicolor spray bed liner paint.
Looks very nice. Really like the Inca Gold.
I have looked at the JCR bumpers. Now that you have installed and finished it, what are your thoughts of the quality/price for an unfinished product? I also like their rear tire carrier bumper with the rotopax setup.
Did the engo winch mount easily without the need to drill additional holes?

Phil - I was down to the Q9000 or the Engo E9000 and it came down to two factors for me:
The first (and biggest) factor was based on all the positive user reviews out there and how it survived the winch shootout article. Lots of very happy customers of Engo. This is not to discount the quadratec it just hasn't been around as long so it may be just as good.
The second factor for me was the fact that I could spend just over $100 more and get the synthetic line and Hawse fair-lead right from the get go and save myself some money in the long run. I'm all about value and I just couldn't look past this.
I ended up going to the 10k over the 9k from talking with Jeff at RockRidge4WD.com because it was literally $20 more then the synthetic 9k! Add in free shipping and a free winch cover and it was a done deal!
I know it's no Warn, and I am fine with that. I hope to be a casual user at best. For my budget and casual use I think it presented the best value to dollar ratio I could find.
wsp1811 - Thanks, I really love the gold too! In regards to the JCR bumper it's top quality in my opinion! All the welds are solid, nicely laid out. Everything lined up perfectly on the frame to install it. I actually took it over to a machine shop/tool & die place to have the holes for the tow bar mounts punched for me. The guy there actually happened to be a Jeeper by coincidence. He was looking it over and said he thought it was a high quality piece, he actually figured I paid a lot more for it then I did.
I will also be adding their rear bumper/rotopax/tire carrier bumper in the spring!! I have no concerns what so ever based on this purchase.
With the Engo, no there was no need to drill anything. Fit right up perfectly!
Surprisingly well! I've had it off road a handfull of times now and so far the paint is holding up really well. No rock chips or anything in it from the hi-way either.
I've gotten to use the winch a bit as well, very impressed with it! I put it through some pretty heavy use the last go round helping a guy out and it didn't skip a beat. Very happy with the whole setup!
BigDeaner - Painting was all spray, I used dupli-color self-etching primer first, then the bed liner paint.
I did have to clean it all up first, since it came bare metal. Also I roughed it up a bit with sand paper, then I used mineral spirits and elbow grease, then sprayed it all off with brake cleaner.
Chirurgus - I mounted the control box under the hood on the drivers side behind the wheel well. I bought 2 gauge wire and ran it all. I will post a pic tomorrow of the wiring setup. I will caution that the wiring was not cheap! But I think it was worth it..
JRoweMDN - No issues with the bumper or install. The tubing is welded all the way around, no additional braces per say. Though I don't know if any of this style of bumpers has much for bracing on the tubes. Maybe they do though, I don't have any experience with any other bumpers unfortunately to say.
