Installed poison spider hood louver

Word of advice to others, it's extremely scary cutting that big of holes in a perfect hood. But the out come is O so sweet. Love it and the only complaint is why I didn't do it sooner lol I will post pics when it's day light.

Just curious, what's the benefit to this mod? Is it supposed to keep your engine cooler?

Thanks!

I wasnt scared one bit drilling and cutting my hood when I did mine two years ago.

Did you leave it bare aluminum?

nice. I love mine.

Although I doubt my engine will run a lot cooler than it did before, it let's all that heat escape that is trapped under the hood. I can see the heat escaping when parked. Maybe it will be easier on the battery, hoses and other stuff this summer!
I haven't really tested it out on a hot day yet, going to get below freezing here again tonight. Global warming you know!

And....they look cool.

Post some pics when you can!

It's mainly for when your going slow like crawling it lets heat out. I have electric fans and after I drove It cold down a lot faster. It took me a couple hours. But I was also watching a little kid at the same time lol but pics tomorrow. It's to dark and won't show good. I got it as a deal with a lift from a guy who wrecked his jeep be for he could install any thing. It's powder coated black. Some guys claim 10* cooler when crawling. But I mainly did it for looks.

I don't consider paint to be perfect lol paint is cheap. But a perfectly straight hood is what I ment. I also have a few more screws to put in. But the old lady wants to spend some time with me

Tomorrow is the poison spider tramp stamp on the back.

I agree! Did mine last weekend love the result. Doubt there is an increased "performance" but it sure looks good. Paid $160 shipped from Northridge4X4

Well I've had mine for two years now, the engine was 210 before louvers and it still runs at 210 after louvers. It has nothing to do with operating temps. It helps the heat in the engine compartment escape to prevent heat soak. Like TJDAVE said, it will prolong the life of the belts, hoses, battery, etc.etc...

Blkrubi88 if it help any thing I consider it money well spent. But like I said I got it for looks. I have been off road a lot and never had a prob with over heating so I had no reason to worry about heat in the first place.

I installed a black powder coated one about a year ago. I really like the look and anytime I'm around other Jeepers someone will always ask about it. As said it won't really lower your operating temp but it can help with heat soak. If you like the look I would recommend it.
