Question Installing Stereo in Tuffy Console

So, the aftermarket stereo that the PO installed in my TJ gave out yesterday. Currently it's mounted in the factory location (albeit poorly). I just ordered a Tuffy center console and will be relocating my new stereo there. My question: What is involved in rerouting the wiring from the stock location to the center console? Will the factory radio harness reach? Or will I have to splice in a bunch of new wires to extend it?

I had mine done professionally and he wired in my soundbar for 80 bucks and everything worked and sounded great. he ran the wires under it and then under the seat and down the drivers side and then back to the dash and used that black plastic tubing stuff to protect all the wires. I watched it was pretty cool, what took him an hour would have taken me all day and lots of cussing and what not. but sorry its amazing what a smile and a please will get ya when you are a girl he he

I have the same center console. I had to splice into all the wires and extend them across the middle by the 4w shifter and into the console. Make sure you use heat shrink for the wires if you choose this route. Or you could use Toshpate's route, thats if you have the smile she does? lol!

This is what I figured I'd have to do. No biggie, just some extra time with a heat gun and a soldering iron. I've done plenty of car audio installs but was hoping this would be easy. I guess I forgot it was a Jeep...

It sure is. I've been on the opposite side of that more times than I'd care to admit!

Yeah, if it were me...I would splice and extend all the wires and then I would either use heat shrink or some kind of wrap to keep the install clean and the wires neatly bundled together. Also definitely use a solder iron to make all your connections so you know they stay good and tight...and even if you don't use heat shrink to bundle all the wires together, at the very least use heat shrink over each of your solder connections so they don't start corroding/shorting out against each other.
