Installing WARN manual hubs on 06 TJ

Gentlemen, I am overtaking the challenge of installing WARN manual hubs on my 06 TJ. My questions is, how to I separate the inner axle from the outer axle on a Dana 30? The u-joint seem to have some sort of cap which prevents me from accessing the u-joint. The WARN instructions refer me to the Jeep Factory Manual for inner & outer axle separation. Anyone has any experience with this? Thanks in advance!

I don't understand what you mean by inner axle and outer axle? do you mean how do you get the axle out of the axle tube? pic's would be great on what your trying to explain

Keepin the peace.

The difference between sport and combat is that in combat you bury the one who comes in second.

Stu Olson has a very good website with numerous write ups.

Here is how to remove a u-joint. Here is how to install a Warn hub conversion.

If you are installing the Warn conversion with it's chromolly outer shafts, it is highly recommended you upgrade the inners to chromolly also. This will allow you to use full circle clips on the u-joints, and make it less likely to break them.

To remove u-joints you need a press.

Use a snap ring and a socket to remove the u-joints. As for hubs. As much as I love my big hubs, I really like the simple easy to change standard sealed hubs on the TJ. Less fuss, Less maintance so much nicer... so it goes...

Thank you TJeeper! That's exactly what I needed. In regards to foxinthemudd question, I just needed to know how to separate the inner/outer axle from the u-joints. The links provided by TJeeper provided me with a very clear and detail explanation. Thanks again!
